Not too many of marriages today stand a chance of making it as far as you and I have partner. Forty-three in two weeks for us. Today, marriages average but eight and a half. What are they doing wrong?

I love the tender expressions of your love for your wife in this poem. My husband loves the term 'soulmate' and said he wanted it in his obituary to name me. Of course, I hope he gets to do that for me before I do it for him!

Jim, this is a great tribute to the love that you and your wife share. The last stanza finishes this poem off very nicely. You should do well in the contest.

Congratulations on the 38 years! We will celebrate 41 this year. It's a blessing to have found our soulmates.
I enjoyed how you constructed this poem alternating free verse stanzas with rhymed ones. It works well because you use the tangible and material parts in free verse but your deeper, emotional thoughts are rhymed poetry. Hope you do well in the contest!

I had to laugh when I read about your marriage proposal and your wife's response. I found this free of spelling errors. Thanks for the definitions. Good luck with the contest.

I enjoyed reading this love poem. This is well composed and presented. Your true feelings come pouring out through your words, which is admirable. Not everyone can be so wildly open with their emotions. This is a strong contest entry, good luck.

This is so romantic! I have a longtime spouse as well, and I get the feeling of being so fortunate to have found him. Sometimes. It's funny that the hard times make the love grow after the difficulty has passed. Thank you for the poem. It gave me 'the feels'.
