Good luck wishes regarding the May Day writing prompt, damommy. I loved the picture because it truly showed all the aspects that spring is indeed here. Your words showed the pleasantry of both May and spring. Very well done.

Thank you. I could do without Summer. If the weather would stay as it is now, that would be great.
-
You are most welcome, Yvonne, I don't know where you are but it is chilly here in North Dakota. We had a blizzard that shut down things about two weeks ago.
-
Oh, my goodness. I'm in Arkansas, and we're looking at the 80s starting the next!
-
Wow, what I would do for an 80 degree temperature, lol, it's either drought here or blizzard.

I was in rhythm reading your piece until the final two lines which seemed contrary to lines one through ten. I have read it thrice and it seems there are more syllables comparatively then the rest. Good luck.

I'll take a look. Thanks.

I try to help but what I would write doesn't make it better, though I'd like to think if I go on a limb I'm thinking it would, maybe.

The balance of meter and solid rhyme in each quatrain is smooth, and the creation of expectation is enjoyed throughout. Good success and keep writing with the God-given talent that you posess~

It's waning, now, this first day of May...
What a gift it was, though! 73 degrees and sunny as can be!
Buds on the trees, the forsythia blooming, the birds chirping like in a Disney movie!
Now your poem...the perfect ending as the sun begins to settle in for the night.
So sweet, so lyrical...so YOU!

What a lovely thing to say. Yes, these few days have been wonderful, but I know what's in store for us very soon.
-
We learn to live with the rain, the sun, the heat, and so on. Just happy we're here to experience it all!

Just wonderful Miss Yvonne.
And good to see you again.
I remember we celebrated May Day when I was young in Washington state...ever since I moved east...
no one mentions it.
But I always celebrate it in my heart!
Love all the pretty flower verses!!
Blessings...

In school, we always had a May Day pole. I don't know if anyone does that anymore. Like you, I never hear May Day mentioned these days. Thanks for a wonderful review.
-
Yes, we did too. We made little flower baskets to leave on neighbors doors. We certainly had 'the good-ole-days!'

Hello Yvonne,
This is a wonderful uplifting poem that echoes the joy of spring
as May Day brings it own signature to the season.
Excellent use of the 8-6 syllables ballad form.
This would be an excellent card to send to friends. :)
Nicely done.
Best wishes.

A pleasure

This is a joyful poem that expresses, to me, the height of Spring, soon to be summer. I don't know the sound of a whippoorwill, but the idea that the song of a bird signifies "all is right," becomes more real as time goes by. Thank you!

Oh this is a lovely, and life confirming poem, Yvonne. May is indeed a lovely month where everything gets a new life. At least in the Northern hemisphere. I loved your poem. Good luck in the contest. Ulla:)))
