A very sad story for this contest, good luck. Clearly banning the practice does not do any good. Authorities need to seek out and prosecute these people just like they did Michael Vick, famous quarterback.

I'd never heard of Michael Vick before you mentioned him (I live in New Zealand, where American football has a very small following), so I googled him and see he was involved in a dog-fighting operation. I'm pleased he was punished, which hopefully had an impact on showing others there are consequences for cruelty.

Yes he was punished, spent time in prison, got out, got a new gig on TV as a commentator, he is doing just fine. Which is too bad. Terry.

Better punishment for him to be stuffed and mounted as a trophy himself.

You'd think that after thousands of years that man should have evolved into something more than fighting dogs, which is incredibly primitive. There should be harsher penalties for people who do this . Good luck on the contest.

Certainly this is a cruel and inhuman sort of prisoner for human sport. It's kinda of hard to believe that there are people out there who would enjoy(?) this kind of thing AND people who would allow their own 'pets' to be used in this way for 'entertainment'. AArrgh.

Dog fighting is a vicious way of treating an animal. I watched a movie one time where they had dog fighting. It was definitely cruel to watch; sometimes the dog never makes it through to live.

Terrible. Not the entry but the life and death of canine that could have been a friend to someone. I know when sad my dog knows and puts he nose on my lap and with droopy eyes says all will be right.

Dog fighting is an ultra cruel "sport" with equally cruel people in attendance, where I presume they gamble on the outcome of the fight, I'm pretty sure the RSPCA, or whatever animal protection service is nationally available, an excellent entry in this contrast, good luck, blessings Roy
