Hello Yvonne.
The story of meeting the fairies in the cemetery, certainly expresses in words the picture in this ekphrastic prose. The story is told with clarity. It is an enjoyable flight of fantasy that certainly conforms to the ekphrastic style as it describes the scene in the picture.

Fabulous story, well told (and written).
The italics lends it a whispered, secretive tale. Good choice.
Best wishes.
(I was thirty-four characters short of the required 150. There, now I got it.)
Seriously, I wish you the best.

Hahaha. I had another friend on here years ago who has since passed away, and we would fill in review to each other with blah, blah, blah. You've come up with another way. Thanks for the review, and also for making me laugh.
-
Wife and I laughed out loud. She said that I'm going to have to steal your blah, blah, blahs.
-
That would be fun. That's what we'll do from now on between us. I see you both have a great sense of humor. I warn you, sometimes mine is a little strange, kind of like Far Side cartoons. And I love a good banter with a friend. Give my best to your sweet wife. - Yvonne

I love The Far Side stuff, though I haven't seen it in years.

My sons bought me books years ago. I look at them occasionally. They're hilarious.

Hello Yvonne,
What a fun story! You could put this in a book with others and could delight generations of children with what could possibly be. If I had any young grandchildren here, I'd most certainly use it as a bed time story. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you. What a compliment! Someone else suggested I write a book about fairies, but I don't think I can. I appreciate your support.
-
Hey Yvonne,
it wouldn't have to be just about fairies, it could be about anything a child would find fascinating. If I recall, you were a teacher. You probably could write a delightful book that kids would enjoy, and some adults too. Shell Siverstein comes to mind.
-
Thank you for your confidence and support. I'll think about it. Have you read my "Wally Weasel Loves to Paint"? If you do, please don't review, just read.

This was absolutely perfect, damommy. The picture showed the delights of a human little girl and the magik of fairies. You told your story very well and very creatively. It was wonderfully told and greatly appreciated. I loved it.

I love the atmosphere you create in this. You have me wanting to believe in fairies. You suggest in your story that sometimes we can benefit from these strange encounters, unlikely though they may be. Your story moves along smoothly and you explain you were there visiting your mother and father in the cemetery. As it turns out, the fairies are there to watch over the souls of the deceased. This is very touching and has me thinking about joining the club. judi

Hi Yvonne, very good, very cute. Your turned a scary night-time cemetary into a playful wonderland. I enjoyed reading your story. I especially liked:
We talked. The girls sounded like harp music, and the boys, like flutes.
(Wonderful imagery. I can see them, and I can hear the music--lovely.)
A pleasure to read. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Thank you so much. With encouragement like I get from you, I will keep writing. Hope you are doing well. We're battening down for a winter storm. About time! I love winter.
-
Good luck with the snow. I'll send you the 16 inches of snow that we just had.
Get your front yard ready. Lol.

I'll take it! hahahaha
-
Leave the garden gate open. I'll also send you a bag of potatoe chips because you're going to need your energy to shovel it all. Smiles. LB
-
Hahahaha. Send the chips, I'll forget about shoveling, and sit by the fire eating chips.

This sounds like a great prologue to a book on fairies! Will you write us one? I love how the narrator is so respectful and never pushy and very consistent so that she could earn the fairies' trust!

Awwwww, you give me too much credit. I could never write a real book. But I will think about more fairies. I love 'em. I believe in them, too.

Your writing was so believable I stopped "adulting" and flew back to the top of the page to be sure this was fiction! The child within me wants to believe in fairies. The thought of my deceased parent's souls being watched over is immensely comforting! Enchanting tale!

Thank you. It's okay to believe in fairies. I do.

Good thought!

This was a fun story. There is enough of the imagination in most of us that we still like to let our thoughts run along the lines of what if there really were tiny little people. It is nice that they would choose to be guardians for the spirits of loved ones.

You did an awesome job with your story for the club, Yvonne. The image is perfect. You are a natural storyteller with a wealth of imaginative ideas that you convert into great stories and poems. I enjoyed reading about the visits. You led up to the discovery and finally meeting the fairies well. Your lines are smooth and create great imagery. I love the idea of the fairies being there in the primal forest and staying to watch over those buried there.
Excellent!
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you. I'm happy you liked it. I still believe in fairies. (Don't tell anyone. They'd think I'm crazy, and maybe I am.)
