Death coming to the last three, and in alphabetical order for Hungerford, Lance, and Warburton. Death remains for each and everyone of us after that final conversation. Thanks for sharing

I missed this one, Gareth. What a great story, I didn't guess he was death until he said he'd visithed Lance the previous week. It does feel like we have the four horsemen of the apocalypse with us now the way the world is behaving. You did an amzing job with this one, I really enjoyed it, even though it's the end of the world. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

lol, you're a bit behind. I've had another 2 up since this one was kicking about. I get so behind sometimes, I just give up.
Many thanks G
-
I know, I get so tied up at home with things, and then writing, when I come and take a look, you've almost written a novel! I'll always catch up, I'm not ignoring your fabulous writing. Why would I? I learn from your writing. I'll get to those other two. xxx
-
yeah, the stuff I'm posting now isn't currently what I'm working on. for the first time in years I'm ahead. lol You know I only posted 9 stories last year (13 posts I think). I found a lot of old ideas and part-finished stories on my old pc and laptops so I've fleshed a lot of the stuff out, reedited and reworked so this is quite fun.
I'm really hoping this year that someone arrives out of nowhere and that these bloggers and story regurgitaters don't clog up all the trophy spots. How in the hell does Humpwhistle only finish 7th in the rankings despite being ne of the best writers on here. Well, I do know why... numbers game.
I'll be slipping back down the rankings come next week I reckon into obscurity once again. lol
-
It is a numbers game. Lee is like me, posts once a week. There are some who post two a day every day, which no one can call short stories. There aren't many novelists on here, fortunately! But, saying that, if you look at the novelist rankings, you'd think there were loads. I don't think the rankings reflect writers properly.
-
No they don't, not at all. I've tried to explain this to a few of the new writers cropping up to basically not get dragged into the multiple posting thing as it diminishes the writing process, not enhance it. It's about churning it out rather than working on a piece. it's like the short word limits, you end up servicing the word count, not the story.

I hadn't picked up on the reference ro the four horseman, I just enjoyed the story of one old friend seeing his mate off into whatever is next, after life. Well told G.
Cheers

You told this memorable story at just the right pace for maximum interest while slowly realizing who the unnamed tall visitor clad in black is, and, as the passing of each of the two other friends was described, an inkling of who they might have been. The final conversation and associated actions confirm the visitor's identity, and your helpful Notes verify the rest.
Every aspect of this story is thoroughly thought out, including plausible dialog, the details of each action, and the calm atmosphere resulting from Jaspar Hungerford's expectation of the visit which would relieve him of his own suffering. Stopping the clock's pendulum and fading away himself is the perfect end to Time and Death.
Superb, aptly illustrated, and worthy of publication so more readers will have the opportunity to read and remember it. -- Mike

Even though I like your style of writing, I think you could use
more twist and turns. But of course, it's just part of the book.
Nevertheless, you have the skills to pay the bills. And since it's
all about our unity, I look forward to our networking with one another
in support of the Arts. Keep Writing. And definitely, Stay Connected

Yes this is certainly a quirky read. However, the images are stark and plain to see. I really enjoyed the images of the characters by the fire - they provided quite an atmosphere in the room. I very much admired your descriptions, Giddy

A little bit of quirk and a tad old-fashioned. I like to experiment with my writing from time to time... keeps things interesting. All the best G

This is not like your usual work and I am glad you explained it in your notes as I did find it hard to follow. It was very well written and thought provoking. Thank you for sharing and take care.

Funnily enough, I used to write a lot of stuff like this. This was on an old file from four or five years ago, so I thought I'd give it an airing. i recently discovered a lot of older stories I hadn't published and stuff I'd been working on from years ago so I'm trying to do something with a lot of it now. All the best G

I liked it. I think you had an interesting personification of death as this quiet, well dressed gentleman, with the smiley face socks. He is well mannered and deliberate, quite emotional, even crying, as he puts that hand on Jasper's shoulder. Then he stops the clock, and death comes, matter of fact. It's sort of like a business meeting, very contemporary in mood. estory

I kind of liked the mix between the sort of olde world of the characters mixed with some more modern traits. this is an old piece I found kicking about on an old laptop. Many thanks G

Wow, done brilliantly, I believe. You do a fine job. I think you pay honor to your fellow Irishmen who were so great in writing. I agree, we are in the end times. So, App repo, dear writer. Thank you for this. Blessings, Barbara

This is an expertly written tale, based on the four horses, although I didn't realize that until I read your notes. I was aware that the visitor was death though; the conversation was a little dark, and now I'm wondering about the drink. Just caught that. Well done.

I included the notes as it's a piece that you have to work at. It can work without it but I wanted folk to get it. All the best
