The story made me smile1. An excellent illustration of how every situation and every story has two side from which it can be viewed ... and it seems as if there is always someone or something on which we can our own misdeeds! Good luck in the contest. You go my vote! ann

Oh how awesome! I am flattered that you enjoyed it and I thank you so very much. I think between all my kids and grandkids, I've heard just about every excuse as to why their homework is missing. LOL

This is a funny story and I liked the way it went from good to bad. It was like two stories in one. Good luck in the contest. This story should do well and thank you for sharing.

This is a cute story and I enjoyed reading it. I've never written one these 'fortunately/unfortunately stories and I must try it sometime; I've heard many excuses for not getting homework finished, but none of my students ever said that their dog had eaten it. One student said his sister had flushed his homework down the commode but when asked, she denied it quite vehemently. Good luck in the contest.

My little shih tzu grabs any paper that falls to the floor and runs under the dining room table with it. My grandchildren are always chasing him. He thinks its a game I guess.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate it.

I enjoyed reading this entry for the - Fortunately - contest.
Fortunately, it is lighthearted and entertaining.
Unfortunately, I have to live a similar life with my teenager not
doing homework on time and being reminded to set the dinner table.
The joys of parenthood and adolescence.
Thank you for sharing the amusing story.

Hello, girl friend... I remembered the days of teenagers and hoping they did what was expected of them, but learning our wavelengths didn't run together. And Snickers, my shih tzu, claims all paper that falls on the floor and runs away with it... He thinks it is a game and my granddaughters are always chasing him.

    Love ya, Carol

Hey Carol, sounds like things get better when the adolescent grows up and has kids of their own so that those grandchildren can occupy the pet child(ren). I now see light at the end of the tunnel.
Now it?s different wavelengths and era? too many distractions with over stimulation of environment and technology but that is another matter. The joys of parenting in the 21st century. ~DD🌸x

Fortunately you totally got the hang of this contest theme... Unfortunately, I could never manage to write a piece with as much wit... Fortunately Matthew had a dog...
Unfortunately Max, the dog, got blamed!

Cute!

Yes, thought of my son and then my dog who always steals every piece of paper that lands on the floor. Thus the story! thanks for stopping by to leave a review.

Have a great day! Hugs, Carol

My son blamed our dog all the time when he didn't do his homework! The problem was...we did NOT have one! (Giggle)--Karenina

This is an enjoyable entry to this contest challenge. But who's Max? It wasn't the dog? Was Max the cat? Sounds like a typical household and hoping my grandson doesn't blame their cat. Lol. Best wishes in the contest!

Max was in the picture with the note I didn't do it! My pup steals every piece of paper that falls on the floor and runs away with it. The grandchildren chase him...it's a game.

Hi there,

I think you did a good job with this piece. I think the premise of the competition is quite uninspiring but this work flows well and you managed a full story with it. lol

All the best

I agree the competition didn't leave any room for a true murder mystery, but it was frivolous and fun for a few minutes. Thank you for the review.

Hugs and have a great day! Carol

You've chosen an excellent theme for this contest, Carol. I don't think you could get the word (or variations of) Fortunately in many more times. I love the humour. Poor Max. Good luck in the contest.

You have done a good job of balancing fortune and misfortune. I know my dogs had a knack for chewing on things I valued when I hurt their feelings by going to work. I suspect some homework somewhere has actually been chewed up by a dog.
