At first, I thought this was the owner/dentist addressing the dog, Deano, when he asks it to 'open' (its mouth) LOL, but the I read it again and realised exactly what you mean and are expressing the attributes of a special and loyal pet, extremely well.
Good luck and best wishes, Ray

Dearly beloved pet,
Open, faithful ... so patient --
God's reflective grace. << Great line!
These dang things are so short, there's not much to say about them, so I pasted it here "for reference" (wink, wink). Verrry clever!

Heh he, well, that's good enough for me, Phyllis. I know you're a dog lover yourself, just as I am. I really feel they are a mirrored reflection of God's kindness and loyalty. Of course, owning three small breed dogs myself, I may be a bit biased, LOL.
Thanks for the review, my friend.:)

Amen to this. At first glance I was assuming it was about a dog, but then I thought I've got a couple of horses, a cat and of course a dog it could also be so easily about. Poignant is the word I'd give this. (Out of sixes so that will have to do : ) Loren

Thanks very much, Loren, and no sixes are necessary. I'm just so happy that you enjoyed reading it, and that it spoke to you.
Thanks again for your stellar review.:)

Thanks, Dorothy, I truly appreciate that! I initially had it reversed (how ironic, huh?), with God forming the body of the acrostic. But I revised it, and felt it turned out much better this way.
Thanks again, my friend. Much obliged!:)

Funny how that works out. Maybe the Almighty has a special place in his heart for man's best friend. Guess we'll never know the answer to that riddle, at least not while we're here. LOL

Hah, yeah, not while we're here, Linda. You're right about that... But, we won't be here forever.
Thanks for the very encouraging review and comments. I really appreciate it!:)

Dean, that is brilliant! A winner for sure. It is true too, God/Dog, they say God sent us the Dog as a sign to us that He is with us, faithfully and lovingly there for us. The cat, was to remind us we are not perfect! I think that is about right. Good luck in the contest, Dean! xsx Sandra

Ha ha, I never thought of it quite that way before, Sandra, but it sure makes perfect sense to me. I'm a dog lover myself. They are so dependent on us for our love, just as God is, I think. Cats, they're completely the opposite, and don't really seem to need or want our affection. Our food, yes, but love? E-h-h-h-h, not so much.
I'm very grateful for your encouraging review.

Your dog is a fortunate animal to have a master who loves him and pays him tribute through this wonderful poem. I dearly love my little dog and I agree that he is God sent.
I will have to read this to my little pet.

Thanks so much, JM. I have three dogs, but my baby is my nine-year-old Chihuahua, Gidget. She is truly my best friend. Her love and understanding, especially when she gives me her little hugs when she knows I am sick, or upset, are so cute and comforting. I believe that God made dogs in a very special way, don't you?
I sincerely appreciate your wonderful rating and heartfelt review, my friend.:)

Yes Dean, dog is God spelled backward and dog has been instilled with the same traits as our beloved God. Loving, faithful and loyal.Your poem is an acostic and a 5/7/5 and about a dog. You did it! Good job! Good luck. Nancy

Thanks so much, Nancy, and it was much harder than I thought it was going to be. But, I love a challenge, and this format surely filled the bill, LOL!
Thanks for your kind review.:)

Hi Dean,
This has a great thought process to it. Our pets are the greatest comfort, and most forgiving creatures, just as God it for us.
Well done! Good luck in the contest.
Cheers & Blessings
