UI love the pictures I love the poem. The sea travelers have always had their own myths. The early sailors took on great dangers. Their adventures made the world smaller for all the rest of us. Great work.

A rousing nautical tale, very well crafted. Excellent rhythm and rhyme in a long 14 syllable cadence with imbedded rhyme in addition to the end rhyme. A stunning composition with amazing graphics adding to the outstanding verse.

Thanks so much for your outstanding review of this poem, Mr. 'T'. It has taken quite a few revisions to land before you as the seagoing adventure it is now. I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

In tropics climes - either:
In tropic climes - or -
In tropic's climes
Aye, bos'n mate, so shorts [short's] the wait (contraction for short is the wait)
A compelling tale of reckless adventure on the sea - told in beautiful sing-song rhythm, that reminded me of the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.
It is also a lesson and metaphor for the journey of life and how we can live on the edge, only to see our dreams dashed to pieces.

Thanks so much for the kind words and review, Uniqusatya.
I'm happy to know that you enjoy this style of story-telling in poetry. I realize that it's not for everyone. However, I'm elated to know that you are in the category of those who appreciate such work, and the effort it takes to create it and make it as such. I 'm grateful to you for that.

Most welcome :)

Thanks, Dipster! I really appreciate you supporting my meager efforts.
I wrote it with you in mind, so I hope it hangs in there and wins. If it does, I'll give you all the credit for the inspiration.
I wrote the poem immediately after you had went on your surfing safari vacation a while back, then finished it later. So, just know that you, and your friendship, inspired that poem.

wow I am both humbled and honoured you are such an inspiration deano I don't think you really comprehend just HOW much I respect you as a writer AND a poet! its a bloody lot lets just leave it at that lol
I really do believe, in life, things happen for a reason and that goes with friendships as well

Congratulations, Dean, on your nomination (again)! Boy, you do spin a bawdy tale! I haven't read much of your work, as I'm relatively new to FS, but I look forward to reading more! This poem is like Moby Dock meets modern moralism... It works for me! I am actually reading Treasure Island currently, so a sea adventure resonates especially well with me these days! I also really enjoyed your use of internal rhyme/half-rhyme throughout your tale. You are very talented!
Yours,
Steph Harper

Many thanks for the kind comments and congrats, Steph. I really appreciate that!
Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island is a fantastic adventure tale, one of the best there is. I'm glad to know there is someone out there who, like me, loves a fantastic, rousing tale of adventure!
Thanks again for your continued support, Steph. I'm truly grateful.

I've always loved those have rhymes with verbs that make a story in a poem dynamic. Sometimes the pictures can be so telling so vivid as to take away from the words and the power where they are placed but not in this case. I'm glad I found this and went along for the ride....not to mention I learn something new so that I'm enlightened and entertained. A worthy poem...

Thanks, Stan, and I must say that I was really surprised to be nominated for Poem of the Month again. The funny thing is, I really don't consider myself a poet at all. More of a story-teller who sets the theme with rhymes.
Thanks again for weighing in on this one for me. As always, I do appreciate your generous support.

I think your great talent is to tell a story with rhyme, a scary one. But that's just me. Ever thought of a children book that scares the crap out of kids old enough to appreciate the fine art.... Maybe those Whimpy Kid book readers.....
-
Ha ha, yeah, along the lines of R.L. Stein's Goosebumps, only in rhyme. I've thought about it.
I'm almost finished with your book, about 2 chapters left. It's outstanding, Stan. Look for my review on Amazon.com very soon!
-
Oh wow! I kind o forgot and then you mentioned the book. Awesome. Whew! Glad you like.
-
Well, I haven't forgotten, Stan. My 17 year old daughter says that she's reading it next...

Thanks, Mr. Brooks, (wasn't there a movie about a serial killer starring Kevin Costner by that name?), as always, I appreciate your review and kind comments.

We are so fortunate on FS. Truly, my friend, I no longer bother with most posts, since my time is precious, but I will always read a pictapoem from FS best. What a brilliant piece, and you know how much I love the sea, and tales of ships and sailors facing perils.
And I love the advice at the end, "Don't lose your sight--do what's right."
Words are too bland to express my admiration for your talents.
Here's a shower of stars for your great post:
