I really enjoyed your story. Out of tragedy can come life as your writing implies. The imagery you created was wonderful, I could hear the leaves crunching. Thanks for sharing such a touching story.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It was probably the strangest thin that has ever happened to me. I truly believe I was touched by an angel and she came home with me. Some angels have four legs.

When life is not done with you, it will resist your efforts to leave it. You, we, are not stronger than the will to live, to survive. Despite our best efforts, if we have something that must be done, we will have to stick around until that particular thing is done. You are hurting? get over it, find a way to deal with it. You are not going anywhere until you do what you were sent here to do. I mourn your loss, but I also celebrate your rescue.

Thank you. Yes, it still hurts but I have learned to live with it and move on. I too believe that we have a preset time here on this planet. We set it before we came here and we cannot leave until our time up.

What a sad story with a happy ending, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading it, though it was poignant. My sincere condolences on the loss of your amazing son, Roy. I believe as you do. That little kitty was a sign from Roy, and an angel was with you--that was the feeling.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you. You're right. I think it was definitely a sign from my son. Why would a tiny kitten have been out there in the middle of nowhere? There were no roads close and I never saw any adult cats in the area ever.

What a sad, beautiful, touching story. I am glad you survived to tell this tale. I am glad you survived in general, even though I don't know you. Good luck in the competition.

Thnk you. I'm glad I survived too. Not so much at the time, but now I'm glad I can tell others my experience.

This is a precious story that brought tears to my eyes when the kitten appeared out of nowhere. Even if you had not sensed a presence, I'm sure you would have known the kitten, looking like a kitten your son once owned, was a sign from your son. I'm glad you felt a presence and heard the kitten. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you. I'm glad to still be here to tell the story. That kitten was with me for over twenty years. I named her Iggy after Roy's cat.

I wish I had a six left for this. Please know my heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the depth of pain you felt and still feel. You have written a moving account of your own experience. I believe that was your son who gave you the kitten. One thing about grief is that we have lost a receptacle of our love, and we need to release it to another live being. The kitten needed your love, and you needed to love it. It must have taken great courage to post this. Thank you.

Thank you. Yes, for a very long time I could not talk about my son without breaking down in tears. I still cried a lot of tears writing this but I think it helps to tell others about my experience. I never believed in angels or spirits until this happened.

I rarely give the top star count offered but this piece of yours touched my heart, and you elaboration sets it apart from others, of that I am sure. Good luck.

I was deeply touched by your story. I truly believe that our beloved departed are close in times of need, and that they can see and hear us, and can sometimes see what we are about to do. I believe your son was there with you and he wanted you to complete your life cycle.
I am the last of my original family and they have come to my aid in times when I needed advice and help.
Too bad we have to go there to have answers to all the questions.
God Bless,
irish

Thank you. I never much believed in angels until that day. The kitten was with me for over twenty years. I named her Iggy too.
