Wow. I am impressed. Assuredly, this is a well put-together essay. I appreciate the obvious care you took in crafting it. But what will stay with me well past its reading is the gentle, dare I say it, diplomatic, way you approached a subject which I sense is near-and-dear to your heart. Politicians and voters in countries the world over could take a few lessons from your non-confrontational style. Thank you for making me once again realize that the United States does not exist in a vacuum, and that we have some pretty awesome neighbors up north. CtVR

You are far too kind--really. I have been accused of being too brash, confrontational and arrogant about my political views in relationship to US policies. But the reality is I honestly respect the US and completely understand how difficult it is to govern 335M people, harness their patriotism and try to herd diverse and regional needs into a collective support. I get it. I understand. Yet, I could have spent fifteen minutes and filled the page with my observation of the folly of the campaign and the flubs. I didn't, instead choosing to write about my core beliefs and respect, Thanks very much for the kind words.

That is one of the most passionate "speeches" I've heard this whole election season, and it came from a citizen of another country. You are well researched, and polished in your arguments and approach. Thank you for the call to action of my compatriots. I am happy, also, to hear the opinion of someone who doesn't really have a pony in the race.
Thank you,
Rhonda

You know, Rhonda, it's wrong to think someone outside of the US is not affected by US policy and politics. The entire world suffers or benefits form American decisions. I hope Reagan's words resonate into the future doe 1000 years. "Mr. Gorbochev, take down the wall." What immaculate intervention that those two leaders were in charge at the time. Between them, they dilutes Communism and gave so many people a chance to live a free life.
I care very deeply about what happens to America, for selfish and altruistic reasons. Thanks.

As an American, I am petrified of this election. It's like Jack the ripper, Jason, Michael Meyers and Leona Helms let are all on the ballot. Which evil do I cast my vote for. I'm petrified for my country. Your essay was outstanding. Gretchen

Thank you very much. I am, as I have recently been reminded, critical of the US and the politicians, but I have the utmost respect for the US. Thanks.
