An excellent story Dean. This guy died and his wife thought he was bankrupt. Many came to his funeral and must have loved him. He lay in his coffin smiling. Happy holidays for you and yours too.

Oh My God, this was so beautiful and heart touching, nearly made me cry. Indeed best things in life are not things, but love and friendship. This was an extraordinary piece.

So very true. If you have someone to love you unconditionally you are indeed rich beyond measure. Kids are given so many things today they often forget how important love really is. Great story. God loves you and so do I.

Hi Dean,

I love flash fiction and this short, short is very well done. You didn't waste words and packed a lot of meaningful narrative into this tightly packed package.

Now, since I'm an incorrigible cynic, I must ask. Is it possible the undertaker fixed his lips into that smile? Oh, just give me a smack, lol.

Hugs,
Lou

Thanks, Dean.

The great thing about belonging to a society of writers such as FS, is that we spend a lot of time contemplating life and the important things. We are truly blessed. Thank you, my friend,

Alex.

My dear sir you have done it again. I can't let this go with less that a 6. Not for the writing alone which is excellent as always, but for the true desire of the season.

Hi Dean...The saddest of the sad are those who have neither friends, family, ... or money to live on. This country has so many who are homeless or next to it, yet can spend/allocate BILLIONS on the military. Oh, here I go. This isn't a great review. I'm sorry, your writing for this was the perfect vignette/reminder of what's important. No spags, and a meaningful read. I particularly like that he's grinning. I do hope if I'm not cremated, that some mortician will let my corpse smile up at the ones laughing about my death. :D A.

Hah, same here, Author Unknown. I also hope that those "out-of-body" experiences we hear about so often are true. I have to see the pastor's face when Metallica's Unforgiven comes blaring out over the music system. It's the first song I want played at my viewing, and it's in my will to do so.
Thanks for the great review, my friend!

What a great song Dean! I just want to be scattered someplace where it's peaceful? If there is such a place left ...

I enjoyed reading this story which told about a man who did not have much material wealth, but he and his family were blessed with a wealth of friends.
