Hello Bob, 'A landslide of leaving', I love that and what a great story. it reminded me of gatherings in our raucous big camp. The noise level is unbearable sometimes, and the children seem to sense when the grown-ups are getting plastered and become really naughty. LOL
I particularly liked the way you left granny 'til the end, the voice of common sense, who doesn't like beer, ahahaha because everyone's stonkered from grog, by now, heheeheh that reminds me of my family, too.
A very descriptive and fun loving story written so poetically. A definite recommend Ana.

Your verse describes a family summer gathering that speaks to me, and others I'm sure, of the good old days.
Well written, well done. Thank you for sharing these memories.

What a surprise to read a poem from you, Bob!! And a very good one.
It's very vivid and made me longing for the Summer. Everything is so well described, it painted pictures in my mind. Really a pleasure to read. Fia

I remember those days. My Midwest upbringing was very similar and you captured it perfectly with this poem. I enjoyed reading and smiled at the memories.

Hi Bob, I wish I had a six to give you for this wonderful poem, but when I do I will be high in the skies to visit my brother and family in Cape Cod. I hate severe winters, and I don't envy you yours. Where I live we will be lucky to see a thin layer of snow every five years and which only last a few hours. A lovely poem you've written. All the best. Ulla;))

Awww. Thanks so much, Ulla. I love that part of the country. My wife and i did all of New England about six years ago and we really enjoyed Cape Cod. Go to Provincetown on the Eastern tip of Mass if you want to visit a quaint little town with beautiful scenery, too. Have fun, Bless you, Ulla.

Yeah,I know the area well. We'll be in Wellfleet. Provincetown I know very well. All the best. Ulla:)))

A very nostalgic, good ol' picnic time indeed Bob, like good old country
folk loved and treasured over the years, and became precious traditions.
They have lasted and stayed with us over time, dare say this new era
of tail gate or lake resort picnics and family gatherings will ever last
or compare to the good old fashioned ones we grew up with.
Thanks for sharing Bob... this was a treat indeed.
Love, blessings, Ronni

Hi Bob, of course, I'm out of sixes. This is a wonderful poem of memories you've written. Summer is my favorite time of year. We just don't get enough of it here in Michigan.

Hi, Mel. We sure have had a vicious winter here, haven't we? Spring is my favorite, but summer is a close second. Bless you, my friend. Bob

Great picture for a great story that kept the reader interested from the beginning until the end. It is full of loads of both imagery and emotions.

A very warm, friendly, family "happening" that permeates the atmosphere in this lovely excerpt, that reads like prose, I'm never quite sure where the boundaries of the crossover are between the tow types, but you are a storyteller Bob, and this is a story, I loved it. Well done, blessings, Roy
