Oh, this was a beautiful story which I thoroughly enjoyed. You pulled me right into the story to join you and Catherine in this last celebration with George. Your use of the senses is great.
Well done and the artwork is awesome. luv jada

Oh Bev, this is so touching. I have had to put a couple of dogs down, so I can certainly empathize with what your friend was going through. Your descriptions were excellent, allowing me to feel as if I was viewing a movie. Your last paragraph brought me to tears. Thanks for sharing. Linda

What a beautiful, albeit sad story. Your friend gave George the most dignified and peaceful ending, whilst you have kept his memory alive by writing this lovely story. Well done!

Truly excellent job of writing. Your description made it easy to visualize the story and feel the heartbreaking emotions of Catherine. The sullen image of Patches standing vigil over the grave brought a tear to my eye.

Liked this line: He was dignified in his bearing and peace flowed from his eyes. :)
Got a chuckle here: She, then, spoke of how George had been the only unconditionally loving male she'd ever known. LOL!!!
The last paragraph had me crying too...and I never met George!
Excellent!

Ah, that was beautiful and very moving.
I've had horses for most of my life and when I look at the photos, I think back to all the fun I've had with them.
Great story, very sad.
Hugs,
Gayle

Hi, Gayle. Nice to hear from you, my friend. I wish I had a little less fear of their size and power. My horse-loving friends are simply gaga over the pets. After my experience with George, I can see why. I really appreciate your supportive and generous review. Warm regards, Bev

Such a loving tribute to a beautiful animal and I am sure he was very dear to the family. Sometimes God knows our need and gives us a special angel who said they had to look like humans. Your story has good dialogue and characters also believable. I would recommend this to others and a very lovely photo. Blessings Rita

Hi Writingfundimension,
A very touching & well written story. It brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful way to celebrate George's life before he was euthanized. I wish I'd done something similar with my cat, Baby before I had her "put down."
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful and haunting story with us!
smiles,
deb

This is a wonderfully crafted story any owner of a pet/horse can relate to. Your writing beautifully made George, a prince for the day. Your paragraph about the party being for Catherine and George being the faithful friend was heartwarming. The artwork as vivid as the impression George's size and nobility made on you. The ending reference of a fallen soldier is perfect.
