This is a nicely done written, sad, but at the same time, I like the strong message for the reader to ponder. I am happy you and your wife had a family despite your grief.
Many blessing for you and your beautiful family.
Merry Xmas!

I'm back from my 48 hour whirlwind Christmas trip to Florida and over my 80 hour work weeks of the past month and will relax with my coffee and computer to catch up on FS.

This is a sad story, but only to the point in losing your beloved oldest daughter. Your story shows strong faith, the kind that gets folks through traumatic events such as the one that happened to you. I believe as part of God's plan in helping us cope with loss; He will, over time, allow all the good memories to play on our minds. I enjoyed reading your story.

How sad, John, to lose your first born. You are so fortunate to have three lovely children and grandchildren here and more in the future.

As a tragedy this is a beautiful story.
Thank you for sharing such a painful intimate part of your life with me. I am glad to know that your Faith helped you through the pain & helped you to appreciate the short moment you had with your daughter!
It's not always easy, but when you can see the gifts in your life it somehow helps to make the wounds heal stronger.
I know this has always been a sad memory, but I am thankful that you have been able to use it to help keep your family together & whole.
Stay Blessed.

Losing a child is one of life's hardest experiences. My sister buried two babies at birth and is now buried with them.
Your tender reflection on the events before, during, and after Kirsten's death is very moving. The informational section about MAS is very clear and blends helpfully within your narrative. I hope writing about this helps. Also, your explanation of your faith response is lovely, and a natural, integral part of your human story.
Good luck with the contest, but I suspect its secondary in importance here.

Best wishes for you contest entry because you deserve to win this 'Story of the Month." It is never easy to relate the death of a child. Of course she is alive and watching over all the family, this is how it should be, nothing ever dies. I commend you on the lovely way that you crafted this heart wrenching story. Kristen would have been watching over your shoulder as you put pen to paper. Happy Christmas my dear friend John.

I literally have tears streaming down my cheeks and I can honestly say that I've never felt so grateful for my three healthy children as I do at this moment! Thank you for your incredibly sensitive writing and for reminding me of my good fortune ...a beautiful, tragic piece!

This was a well written story. The reflection back to your daughter as you held the time card was heart touching. Your story held my attention, and very easy to follow. Nicely written.

What a beautiful and heart warming story. Your faith in God comes through by showing how you handled the death of your daughter. The timecard is an excellent symbol of your priorities that day.
