I just love the humor in your well rhymed poem. I assume this is fiction ? If it is a real experience then I guess I would be horrified. Just kidding, a master work of poetic rhythm and rhyme.

Thanks Don and Vicki. I have had some scary moments, but not as bad as I have portrayed.

Yes, this is the way a person feel when they go to the dentist. I am always glad when it is over.
Your couplets are nice and good luck with your poem.

Haha! This story is really funny. You included lots of imagery (in rhyme), that allowed me to envision the horrors I'm so familiar with at the dentist's office. I really enjoyed your trip to the dentist, since I couldn't feel your pain. This story sounds like a winner. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks, Lorraine. The story is funny, but the experience is not.

holy cow! I'm surprised you didn't leave when she grabbed your arm!
I'm hoping this is fiction, but if not, I do have to say that your rhymes are good; meter, too, and it read smoothly and cleverly. (And I hope your mouth has healed.)
And you found a new dentist!

Thank you for sharing this story/poem contest entry with us. My husband and I go to the same dentist. His horror stories are very similar to your entry. Mine are very different. I can't say it's a pleasant experience, but it's okay. LOL Good luck with the contest.

I feel like this will be a nightmare haunting me. I am terrified of a dentist. I had five children and three without meds, and I'd do it a hundred times over than sit in a dentist chair. One drill through the top of my mouth was enough for me. Your poem is still sending chills up and down my spine.

Thanks, Carol. Comparing a dentist visit to childbirth is quite something. I'll bet there is a poem there.

LOL... I'll take childbirth any day, though I might have to reconsider, seeing as how teenagers have changed so much nowadays.

Paul,
This is hilarious! It's completely relatable too because it's real. I loved the dental hygienist's credentials:
She was a recent graduate of night school dentistry.
The ink was not completely dry on her brand new degree.

You won the contest in my eyes!
Sending along my very best.

Thanks, Santha. I don't know anyone who enjoys a dental appointment. Well, maybe the dentist.

Oh goodness me the dreaded dentist. I really like what you have done with this, bringing through the full story from start to finish, all the different emotions and thoughts (mostly fear and dread). It gave me the heebie jeebies even thinking about the denist. Brilliant poem, you did a great job. I got a good old giggle aswell.
Best Wishes
Nicki

This is a funny story and I think most people can relate to it. The dentist chair is not my favorite place and I have had a few rough dentist along the way.

Did this experience ruin going to the dentist office for you?

Well done and good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Cecilia. I had to wait about five years before my next appointment. Ha ha.

    Paul,

You're welcome. Was that 5 year wait by choice? When I lived in Reno, NV I had a dentist that was extremely rough. I told him if he was mean to me I would bite him. Needless to say he was quite gentle.
