You had an unusually traumatic life, beginning during early childhood. Your vision of how the world works, with family, love, support and happiness was distorted. I'm sorry for all the horrors you experienced as a child, even though you didn't realize it...you were strong, and survived. Yes, you may have struggled with mental illness, but you were a survivor.
Your story is well told, and may serve as an inspiration to others who experienced similar things. However, I would recommend you do another edit and focus on minor punctuation errors and typos. I wish you the best in the contest.
