What a wonderful poem honoring your favorite author (and many more readers as well) Dr. Suess. I love the blending of his history into the poems and bits of stories. It's strange how we can ban books but we allow so much more things that endanger our children survive.

Hugs, Carol

Hi Debbie,
This is a good poetic biography of one of the best children's writers. He was my favorite. I read them to my children. I gave the books to the first of my nieces to have a baby.
It was very rude of Pres. Theodore Roosevelt not to give Dr Suess his promised medal. He should have had another made.
I didn't know March 2 is reading day;
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day.
Joan

Did you see the part about the Spam at the end. Shout out for MN
reply by dragonpoet on 27-Feb-2024
You are most kindly welcome, Debi,
If assume you are talking of Spam the canned meat, I don't like it. Did you know SPAM is an acronym for Scientifically Produced Animal Matter.
    Sounds delicious doesn't it?

Lol, I hate Spam, I always did, but I was talking about getting a shoutout to Mn on the last line. Some do love it and I thought it went in the line with green eggs and ham

Great job with the artwork, presentation, and poem, Debi. The Cat in the Hat was a huge hit in our house when our son was little. I was saddened to learn some of the difficulties in his life, but I guess most people have something along the way.

He was so talented and brought joy to kids and adults. I didn't know about reading day, and I agree that he probably would like to be remembered that way. I think Dr. Seuss would love your couplet at the end, especially with the inclusion of Spam.

On a side note, when our son graduated from high school, each student got a hardback copy of "All the Places You'll Go." Thanks for sharing everything and honoring Dr. Seuss.

Ahhh, Dr. Suess. There's a classic writer we can all look up to. I read the books to Kylie all the time. She loves them. He was able to reach many generations of little ones with his timeless stories and rhymes. Kylie loves the tongue twisters.

Thank you for celebrating such an important man and his contributions to children's literature.

Much love and hugs,
Rhonda

Hey sweetie, I sure have been missing our email talks, and I miss my little pal, Kylie. Maybe it is time for another smashup. I should start writing down which ones I send so I don't forget and double up. Please don't feel that you have to send a video each time tho.

Anyway, thanks for the incredible review and very kind words for my Dr Seuss poem. I appreciate it so very much, my dear friend.
Thanks also for the six stars!! They are seussational!

    Hi Debi,
I miss the exchanges on emails as well. It's not that we don't think of you. I'm so incredibly busy. My mother in law is still in the hospital and will transfer to rehab as soon as they release her from the hospital. Love you much,
    Rhonda

Hi Debi, your poem is a great ode to Dr. Suess. He has made millions of children and adults smile for years. Many times, if I am making ham and eggs, I'll start singing the Dr. Suess "Ham and Egg song."

Of special note:
He worked as Editor in Chief; one day he went berserk
Was prohibition time, and he was drunk and fired at work

(FS writers, beware ... you just might go berserk - lol - or someone might find you drunk at your computer. Big-teeth smile.)

Awesome artwork choice. Well done. Xo. M

Thanks for all this great information on Dr. Seuss! He was my favorite, too! And I learned a lot about the rhythm and sounds of English as I did a lot of reading on my own before being accepted by my English-speaking peers. I'll have to check out those videos later. It's too bad that some ignorantly liberal folks have banned his books. He's not racist. He was a product of his time. He was very forward-thinking and I liked how he described human warfare in the "Butter Battle Book".
Thanks for remembering Dr. Seuss!

Thanks Helen. I am glad you found the information that I gave interesting. It was nice to hear about how you relate to Dr Seuss too. Yes, make sure you watch the videos as I only saw one, the biography and it was so interesting.

There have been a lot of women who have agreed with me when I said are we getting too touchy, because the story about the zoo I think because of the word, nerd. You gotta be kidding me, right? Anyway, I am glad you found the information useful. It was good hearing from you. Debi
One of my favorite sayings is, don't believe everything you think. LOL.
I tell that to Glen all the time. Hehe!

So very interesting and informative. I never knew he was censored. You have now forced me into doing what I don't like and that is research. I'll now go talk to my friend, Mr. Internet and ask him about the good Doctor. A really good write.

Awe, Bob, you are so very sweet. I figure if Seuss can get by with it, we can make up some of our own words, so I would like to thank you for the
Seusixtional stars! LOL. Ok, that wasn't the greatest attempt but I had to try.

Anyway I do appreciate your kindness, comments and stars. And if you find out anything new, please let me know. This man is the biggest influential author I know of. If you want some really good info about him, watch that biography I posted. He was even on the What's my Line or What's my Secret, one of those once and they show it on there. Good stuff!
Thanks again, dear friend. So appreciated. Debi

great poem about one of the greats Dr. Suez. His verses were great, as he introduced silly rhymes to children of all ages. I loved reading his poems as a child.

OH MY GOODNESS! This is an absolute exquisite poem in my opinion! First of all, the incredible visual you were able to demonstrate, giving a precise and direct identity to this master of words, known by most of the world as a borderline shadow spelling out a simple name, brings prestige to honor this talented and confident wonderful person. Thank you so much for sharing this history of a person I wish I had the ability to know. Will follow your portfolio and I wish you the best. Thank you once again.

Hello Sue, I thank you for the lovely comments regarding my Dr Seuss poem. He is my favorite author and brings out the kid in me. So in honor of his upcoming birthday, this was something I have been wanting to do. Are you a Dr Seuss fan too?
Anyway, thank you so very much for your generous six stars for this poem.
You are so very kind. Debi

You ask if I am a fan of Dr. Seuss? Honestly, children's writing, if presented with the precise purpose to add joy, laughter and strengthen the innocence of those precious years of learning to read, comprehend and imagine, well then, yes. Dr. Seuss is an inspiring children's author that I, personally respect and am grateful for. Happy to share! Take care!

LOL, My favorite saying is the one I always tell my husband. "Don't believe everything you think!" Hahaha!
Yes, I am a Dr S groupie, because from one survivor to another, if we didn't find a way to laugh and have fun, we wouldn't have made it. I found this was one of the first things that ever gave me that. So that is why I am so hooked.

That is cool that Sesame Str and the old doc helped you too. I knew you were from Spain, but couldn't imagine you ever not speaking English.

Thanks so much for your awesome review and comments, my dear friend. It meant the world to me. Love, Debi

I was 16 years old when I moved to America. I didn't know any English at all. My aunt enrolled me in school and it was a complete culture shock. Some how I learned and finished my education with a bachelor's degree in business management.

Wow, how amazing and then you became such a talented poetess too in the English language. Just one more reason I am in awe of you. Hugs to you!
