This is a delightful verse to read, Janet! It flows and rhymes so well and conveys such honesty that you might feel reflects badly on you but, trust me, I've been there too. I keep a journal as well and my entries can, definitely, be less that glowing. But that's what's so good about it. You leave it on the page or computer screen for much later deletion, admittedly:) Thank you for sharing this excellent, thought-provoking verse which I enjoyed. Debbie

I'm pretty sure that you're nice, Janet! My closet is so full of skeletons I don't have room for my clothes.

I'll bet those journals would have made an excellent book. You're a writer. No one in your family would have to know it's non-fiction.

This is well done, my friend! I loved it! Best, JohnC

My niece found some journals my wife wrote about when we met and marriage. She gave them to me (she didn't snoop). I still can't force myself to read it all, but maybe someday, like you, I may write about some of it. For me, it's too soon. I'm thankful God brought us together and was there in our courtship and marriage.

I have written the same way even since I was a teen. I wrote everything that I felt and I edited myself some for fear of my sisters' eyes mostly, Sometimes I would write to God, then after 1980. I mixed it up and had written to John Lennon, too; it would depend on the topic, of course. This is well written, and I enjoyed reviewing it.

This is my favorite line from it, to which I relate:

His blessings are a gift so good
I can't begin to count them all.

Best wishes,

Alex :)

Even though I love to write, I scold myself for never having kept a journal of all the ups and downs in my life. But maybe it's better...too many tragedies that don't need to be relived or emotions I found impossible to share. It's wise to destroy them, I believe. Let's dwell on the wonderful blessings we've been given. Well written.

Smiles, Carol

Keep a journal and write almost every day. I've often thought about writing some crazy stuff like being a CIA agent. Then leaving it for my kids to read after I'm gone. Lol. I enjoyed this very much. Gretchen

A beautifully written post, Janet, word usage in each verse was well placed...I enjoyed read this, mainly because I could identify with some of your words...I had, (I put that in the past tense, because I have destroyed all of it) a notebook that I would write in, whenever I had the time...but after reading it over, I felt differently, and so I just shredded every page.

There is a song I dearly love to hum, (because I can't sing)..and it's goes on and on about the "Goodness of God"..and when I realize how true that is, I can forget any of the negatives life has presented to me...I know I will see my loved one's again, in paradise, and it is His Blessings, that are keeping me here right now...So let my family see me as I am right now...An old lady living out her last years, with grace and thankfulness...Thanks for sharing your poem with us, it was well worth the read, and I'm glad for your todays!
Blessings!

Warmly,
Victoria

I have kept a couple of books of my early poetry, and I would not destroy them for anything in the world. I want my children to understand just how hard I worked on writing my poetry, and they will see in the first that many of my poetry works were because That I was going through, and there was healing in each of those poems for me. Patricia.

I believe this is the first I've read of your work. This is beautiful. I wish I had a six for it. You project honesty and gratitude. Your rhymes flow smoothly, never forced, to enhance your theme. Excellent iambic meter.
