Thank you for this moving tribute to those we've lost and those that live as though lost. I was a teen in the age of the VietNam War and was appalled by the indifference and even malice shown concerning their great sacrifice.
But every tribute like yours is so important for any who have or will and are serving to Honor and protect. You have portrayed this so well.

    Thank you so much,
    Carolann. The trauma and
loss of life from war is
    tragically repeated over and
    over. Humankind has always
    had the specter of war
    in its existence. Thank you
so much for the 6 stars.
    Many blessings to you.

Those returning home from war are often scarred and broken and suffer grief and it takes a long time for them to settle back into home life. We are a little bit more understanding today of this situation and after WW1 many of the soldiers never completely recovered from war and were mostly ignored by others when they returned home to no job and no money. This is a heartfelt write Regina and we never forget those who fought and lost their life in the fight for freedom and the loyalty they show their country, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

    Thank you so much,
dear Dolly. Humankind refuses to learn from the
    past. Wars are still waged
    with it's youth becoming
    fallen or scarred physically
    and psychologically. I really
    appreciate you taking the
time to read my poem in
    tribute to our fallen and
    veterans. Bless you for
    caring so much. xx

I served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era 1960-1964, but I did not actually set foot in that country.
I find it totally galling that the sanity, blood, sweat and tears were sacrificed to honor the greed and hate of men who would never have to see combat, or suffer the debilitating effects of war up close and personal.. In some ways those who die on the battlefield are more fortunate in that they die only once, but the survivors day a thousand times daily as they relive the horrific effects of battle. God bless all who served, both alive and deceased.

    War takes so many young
    and promising lives. It
    ravages the survivors with
    physical and psychological
    damage. It hurts their
    families too. Thank you so
much for the 6 stars. Many
    blessings to you.

War is so senseless, the loss of so many young men and women, and the world never changes. Your poem is amazing. Your tribute to the veterans is powerful, emotional, and so disturbing. We must never forget them, and that includes all those mentally scared and now living alone, on the streets, discarded with only their nightmares for company. It is shaming. Well done, this is a great contest entry, and I wish you the best of luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

    Thank you so much, Sandra.
    Our military and other
    countries military over the
    centuries have suffered so
    much loss and physical
    and psychological injuries
    and the fallen paid the
    ultimate price. Thank you
    for your thoughtful review,
    my poem has touched other
    poets and I've heard from
    many who were youth in
    the 60's too, and their
    experiences in relation to
    the tragic Vietnam War.
    Thank you for your
    caring and benevolence.
    Many blessings to you.

Regina, your summation of the Viet Nam war is eloquent and sad. Written by a veteran, you expound on the pain of those who bravely fought this terrible political war. I've known many Viet Nam veterans (I met them while a patient at the va hospital in Pittsburgh). They had gone through so much mental and physical anguish.
Exceptional poem, Regina. It's one that had to be written.
Blessings,
Cindy

    Thank you so much, Cindy.
    These tragic wars don't end
at the last hour of combat.
    These wars carry on in
    the survivors bodies and
    souls. I've received so many
    thoughtful reviews from
    other poets. Some of them
we're youth in the 60's and
    wrote what their experiences
    in relation to the Vietnam
    War. Your personal
    experiences as a veteran
    and meeting Vietnam
    veterans is poignant. Many
    blessings to you.

This is a sad poem about a war veteran who visited a cemetery and there was an elderly woman who was trying to find her son's grave. He found the grave for her. His prior thoughts were bringing back bad scenarios for him.

    Hello Rosemary, Thank you
for taking the time to read
    and review this poem. This
    poem is about so much
loss of life from so many
    wars including the
    Vietnam war. I'm not a
war veteran. I was a youth
    in the 60's when the
    Vietnam war was raging.
So, part of this poem is
    biographical. The part of the
    poem about the Vietnam
    veteran's mother I did
    experience a few years ago.
Thank you for the 5 stars
    and your caring comments
    about our soldiers. Many
    blessings to you.

When reading this poem, I get a clear view of what Veterans Day means. That was a very nice reference to the POW's and MIA's in the last stanza. Good job, Regina.

Thos was gut wrenchingly sad. I was a Vietnam Era child as well. The disrespect that was shown to those men and women was terrible. I remember visiting the war memorial in Richmond, VA. I'd run my hand over the names I could reach. Thankfully treatment of veterans has improved. Unfortunately many go to their grave with unresolved issues. This was a very touching poem. Gretchen

Thank you so much, Gretchen. Our soldiers have
    suffered so terribly. It was
very caring of you to go
    to the war memorial and
    for putting your hands on
their names. I was hoping to
reach a lot of people with
this poem, and it has. Many
    blessings to you.
