Your subtle political correctness is clever - and is a sign of the times we live in. The only constant is change it seems, and nothing remains as it was, which at times is a good thing, but mostly not. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Thanks Wendy, I appreciate you!

Philosophically speaking I suspect this meets the test of an Ubi sunt, though why one would name it that is beyond my comprehension. If it wasn't explained it could have been a typo.

I really enjoyed reading your ubi sunt poem. This is totally a new form to me but from reading the instructions, I think you nailed it.
Perfect title - I think we all feel like we're in a state of flux and wonder, what's next.
Good luck in the contest.
Blessings

Janet, thank you for the great validation and good wishes for the contest. A world that seems to be running amok with wild abandoned of all things that seemed rock solid ... does tend to magnify a state of change. I look for the Peace in the present moment to pause and simply breath.

well you nailed the form my friend with your powerful, moving poem about changes in life as you age and things change all around you and you feel a bit lost in your inner thoughts.

I liked your take on this subject. I big portion of my poetic endeavours centre on self examination, ruminations on "why is this so?" I figure a lot of things out, even transcending into the eternal. This is a beautifully written poem, and a very worthy entry into this contest, well done, blessings Roy

Roy, I do a bunch of what is called Centering Prayer on a daily basis - doing my best to quiet my mind and and open my heart to listen for answers to "why is this so/" So thank you sir!

An excellent prayer choice Jim, very sensible?and rewarding. It?s Why you write so well

Great reflections in your ubi sunt poem, Jim. It does make us all wonder about the changes and how to understand people as they change. I hope it doesn't result in the "blame game" but it often does. Best wishes in the contest!
One typo:
Where did all yesterday's go? (yesterdays)

I like your "ubi" poem and hope it does well in the contest. You are a sly one to comment obliquely in a poem about a social issue. I agree completely. Next we'll all be referred to as "Its" as the state of flux continues.

Hi, Jim...
This contest intrigues me.
Seems we're all hyper aware of life speeding by, as we're barraged daily with
shifting perceptions and norms...
You cast your rod into the sea of words and reeled in a fine free verse.
I was thinking about writing this one of these--you've intimidated me!
(smile)
Nice "Ubi!"

Karenina, you surely have ice in your veins ... jump in and you'll certainly bob to the top with your great skills. 🎶🎶🙏🙏👍👍
-
I've been making notes and beseeching the muse. No ice in these veins! I'm basically a coward who thinks every time I post I'm going to bomb!
-
No never, you have been quite a very long time and I am certain it would extremely rare that you would bomb :)
-
SO far, my muse is on strike, carrying around a little placard that says "NO UBI FOR YOU!"
🤣

All the questions in your construction of this piece articulate the uncertainty we all face in the unfilled future. Change is unsettling; we all seem anxious about it because we can't control it. The past always seems a happier place. It's because we knew what happened there. We know how the story plays out. It's the future and the present that unsettle us. estory
