Wow, this is superb. I was hooked on the very first paragraph. It is an excellent story about a controversial subject, but you handled the dialogue in a perfect manner. I will certainly watch for more of this story. Marvelous writing.

You are very kind. Thanks for your encouragement and the lovely six stars. It's not an easy subject to write about.

Oh, boy, this is definitely hotting up. I didn't expect this. Glorious drama. I thought the kiss theme might go on too long, but you just brought in the magazine just in time, and how riveting this play is going to be.
You have managed to keep people on their seats for this one Jay. I was smiling a little through it, then concentrated, then smiling, then raising eyebrows....relentless emotion, and Arthur's character suits well, while you have kept people guessing about Phillip, though the magazine might tell the tale.
Brilliant chapter.
Well done. If this does not make No1, my name is Rumpelstilskin.
Best wishes.

I believe that every scene I write becomes number one, and pushes the previous scene to number two. But before you think that's boasting, I think I'm the only playwright on FanStory who promotes his/her play high enough to hit ATB, which is the baseline for Script of the Month. So far I have the number 1, 2 and 3 slot locked in. But it's really a dubious honor. A horse race with one pony. Anyway, I'm thrilled, as usual, to have you read it and weigh in. That's what's so very important. You rock, Rumpel!

Jay, I wish I could give you ten star for this. It's so realistically written and portrayed. Arthur is rattling poor Phillip, who is afraid of what is happening. Many people, even today, are afraid of this deviant in sexuality. They see it as a threat.
It's interesting you should bring up Christine Jorgensen. He/she indeed was the first person in the world to have a sex change operation performed in Copenhagen, Denmark. We were pioneers in the field. I don't know whether you know that she chose to be married to her American husband in Denmark, by way of saying thank you.
I simply love the play/story. It's so well written. Ulla:)))
Just out of interest, I worked as an auxiliary nurse in the same hospital from 1969 - 1972 while I was studying in college and the university. I actually looked after a few patient who was undergoing a sex change. Then my life took a different turn. But that's a story for another day

Wow, Ulla! I had no idea of your connection with a hospital that performed sex-change operations. Fascinating! I'm happy you felt that I handled the subject appropriately. It's not easy to write about gay men without exaggerating their mannerisms. Your six stars are lovely, of course, but just having you weigh in is what I feel honored in observing.

This is a powerful scene, Jay, and completely unexpected. The previous scenes had us thinking something more had happened with the girls, and wondering why Philip had decided to become a priest. You've captured all of the emotions and characters perfectly. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next scene.

Huge thanks, Judy. I'm glad you enjoyed the turn this scene took. I never even considered that angle of something happening to the girls. I SO appreciate your interest in this play. Thanks for supporting it and being so encouraging to me for writing it.

You?re most welcome, Jay. I always love your fine writing and stories.

So Phillip is considering a sex change. He probably won't be able to become a priest. I am also curious about his size. This is going to be an interesting ride. I can't wait for more.

Thank you, Barbara, for your encouragement. Yeah, I've considered what would happen within the church if he had the sex change. Could he be a nun? Sounds ridiculous, but could he?

A rush of thoughts and emotions bouncing around like ping pong balls in a tornado's whirling winds, while trying to make a life long decision. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Haha, well put, my friend ... ping pong balls in a tornado. Whoa! Thanks, Ric, for your continued support. Hope you are feeling well after your hospitalization.

Wonderful! I love how you approach a subject that many (especially in the past) would consider a no-no even behind closed doors. You are able to make the reader understand and feel the emotions in and behind the spoken words. Marvelous!

It seems that Phillip is question his own sexuality. He is wondering why he didn't respond differently to the girls and why he was a bit thrilled eight years ago by the kiss of a gay man. Maybe all this had to do with his decision to become a priest who are not supposed to be tempted by sex with women or men. They supposed to be above that, but it seems few are. I've heard many men do question their sexuality. I don't know if it is natural to do, so because I can't think like man. I've never questioned mine. I'm looking forward to seeing where this story goes. You are an extremely good writer who seems to be able to get into the inner souls of your characters and bring them to life.

You are a rare reader, Beth. Always so considerate and kind. I need that. I guess we all do. I think just as many women question their sexuality as do men. My daughter is lesbian, and a sweeter person you'd never find. She is in a committed relationship and neither has masculine characteristics. They love each other. It's that simple.
Thank you, Beth, for taking a chance with this script and for the six lovely stars.

Man, that Arthur is bent on calling Phillip "Love" no matter how he's asked NOT to call him that.
You did a great job with the personality of Arthur, I could really hear and visualize him. And you hit upon a key misunderstanding that gays are not trans. So Phillip has a lot to learn and these things are not "fixed" by surgery. (Did they really have sex change surgery back in 1953?) I feel sorry for those men who had to hide their sexuality and suffer in the 1950s. This showed another part of soul-searching that Phillip has to go through before feeling at peace about being a priest.

Yes, Christine Jorgensen had her sex change operation in Copenhagen in 1952, after serving in world war II. She became a flamboyant proponent of transgenderism. You can read about her on Wikipedia.
