A heart-warming tale for the Christmas season. You fed your ailing plant a superb selection of poetry. I feel sure that was what led to its recovery! Congratulations on your win in the contest.

How clever, to write it so it works both ways (and yes, I agree that it does). Is this a true story? How would you get a cut-down Christmas tree or gr eenery to grow again? I'm clueless about such things.

Thank you very much for your kind and supportive feedback, Darlene. I am pleased you enjoyed this and grateful for your time. I have friends who do it every year - take the healthiest sprigs and get them to root by placing the sprig in water. When they have a healthy enough root system and the weather warms they can be planted outside.

How fun. Have you put up your tree for this year yet?

I really the flow of this. It made me think of the 'Charlie Brown Christmas Special' that comes on every year about this time. It also makes me think of Dr. Suess. I like the way it takes something seemingly insignificant and turns it into something very important and special. Like the scraggly, skinny tree that Charlie Brown's friends dismissed as unworthy of participating in any celebration of Christmas and was saved by Charlie, and then Linus starts to redecorate the skimp of tree, and then the rest of the friends join in, and they all resurrect what had previously been dismissed as not worthy into something that is beautiful and robust and reborn to the fullness of life. This poem reminds me of that.

This is nicely done letting everyone know that giving love to something even as little as a tree can bring hope and happiness in this world of ours.

Lovely little piece. I'm not sure it quite conforms to the contest, since it doesn't speak directly to the plant, but in this story the protagonist does speak to the plant, so it might fit.

Thank you very much for the generous and uplifting encouragement of this piece. I am so pleased you enjoyed it as that is the whole reason I write - to bring a smile to another face and a little warmth in a cold world to another heart. I am more grateful than words can express for your kindness and support.

A very well-written story about the little dying sprig that someone thrown out was rescued by an early walker who took care of the dying sprig that becomes a glowing Christmas tree in the garden.

Saving any life is a heavenly act. Many people think only they are important enough to matter, but who is to say that dogs and cats and, yes, even rose bushes, have a life worth protecting? :)
