This is cute, Wendy, and so real. What child doesn't eat more berries than they save. LOL I love the suggestion of the blue stained smile. Well done. Nancy

Thanks Nancy for the R & R. I remember eating berries once until I was sick. - Good times. - Wendy

I remember the chiggers we suffered after picking blackberries. Talk about itch! The more you scratch the deeper they burrowed. LOL

cute poem, ending with blue berry stained mouth. Dream-filled smile is unusual - hard to picture that exactly, but good rhymes and meter.
love your B&B, what a charming house. Don't know how you have time to write, but glad it is a muse. lovely picture of it.

Thanks pome lover. Both of my children used to smile in their sleep and we always wondered what they were dreaming. With Betsy, I knew. Thanks for the review of the house too. I am up at 4:30 each morning as that is the only uninterrupted time I have to write, then begin the day's work at six. Bed at 8, unless there is a poem screaming to get out. I appreciate the time you took for the R & R. - Wendy

wow! you get up earlier than I do. sounds daunting. More power to you.
now I get it about dream-filled smiles. precious.

-Very nice artwork.
-I like your poem with good rhyme, alliteration,
and a story that children would like.
-They always like all the repeated sounds.
-They would also like Betsy's story, and
talk about liking blueberries, too!
-Very good imagery, and a good ending.
-Thanks for sharing.

Delightful , rhythmical poem which has appeal for both children and adults. I love the blue of Betsy's fun-filled smile. It reminds of the days when more than my mouth was stained with the purple of mulberries.

Great rhythm and rhyme in this fast paced poem. I loved this childhood poem, it feels old fashioned and familiar. Loved 'she picked all day and never spilled, yet her bucket sat half-filled' I've done the same thing myserlfr with strawberries. Enjoyed. MaggueF

Thanks for taking the time to read and review my words. I too ate my way through a berry picking and paid the price with a very sick stomach. Good times. - Wendy

A very well-written fun poem about Betsy Bernstein with her bucket picking peaches, plums and blue berries at the island of Nantucket.

I picked up a typo:

She had alway(always) dreamed of picking

Such a wonderful poem for children! I can see the little hands picking a berry and plopping it into the waiting mouth, and only occasionally, dropping a berry into the pail. Very good imagery, and a pleasant rhyme and rhythm. Thank you for sharing,
