It is so beautiful and has all of my favorite ingredients...the sea, sandcastles, love and the ability to express thoughts mind to mind. I did this with a man from Chile as we transcended language barriers and understood every word in a philosophical conversation. Life holds its own secrets. Thank you for the story.

I love your story! He probably grew up to be a very nice man.
It's a pity you didn't find each other again.
It was very well written, you are eager to read it and what is
goi8ng to happen and maybe he was your first husband!
Its' a lovely entry to the contest,. I wish you good luck.

Wow! That is such a moving and innocent story about connecting in a very deep way! I am touched by the love and the openness - and you two barely had to talk! What a sweet story! And I love your conclusion - still wondering if he remembers!
So romantic!

Oh, amada, you make us all want to go back to that beach.
Most of us have been there and can relate so easily to your
story. Mine wasn't a beach, but I still had the memory of that
first romance.
Just one spag. I think it's the beginning of the ninth paragraph.
Drop the "d" in exchange. This was such a heart touching story. -Bill

I just read two poems involving sandcastles--I like the serendipity of your sharing a prose piece involving them as well. More coincidences: I grew up in a similar environment, where children were to be seen and not heard, and like you followed my own ideas, which I too continue to do today. Thank you for sharing your lovely memories of sweet innocence--I am certain the friend from your past has parallel flashbacks. Best wishes in the contest- Joan

What a lovely story. I can relate quite well, being an only child myself.

It was a magical summer for you, and now you have good memories. I love the way you related all this.

Perfect photo.

Thank you for sharing. 8-)

that is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever heard.
and why not....? you built together, bounded in its hurry. "with out" words spoken...just a nod and a smile. "out of the mouths of babes"....does truth turn real. -smile-....love Michael

There's no question he remembers you. No doubt he has the same thoughts and feelings regarding you as well.
This was just beautiful and touching and hit me exactly where I wanted to be hit. Nine or ten is old enough to already be who we are. I honestly don't feel much different now then I did then. I'm know more and there were obvious changes, but an encounter like that would affect me the same way it would now and thus the very strong connection to this story. Just lovely. Thanks so much for sharing. mikey

Amada, this is a delightful story. My first love I still remember, his name was Dale and when there was a 4H meeting at our home, Dale and I would sit behind the stove in the living room and holds hand and he even kissed me. Now that was over 71 years ago. Patricia

There is really a not a lot more to tell other than he kissed me and I thought he was a cute one with natural curly hair.
