Excellent response to the contest prompt, very well written and one many of us can relate to. Love that line about the old vices. Good luck in the voting booth. I really enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for reviewing.

I like this. It's funny because it applies to so many of us who can't walk past the computer without checking on something. I liked the way you counted down the hours as they passed and as you were still awake. I think it is funny because it is so familiar. It's well written and creative.

LMAO! Our spokesman!
How many of us do you figure read this and said "Hey. . .get out'a my mind!" ?
I think you have captured the essence of a good 97% of the active FanStory population LOL.
Nice one :-)

I hate to admit I'm not a certified addict. I don't stay up into the dead, dark hours after midnight checking postings or comments. I wouldn't be able to function during the day if I did that, and three small children make functioning essential.
I suggest eliminating CNN but keeping caffeine and FanStory. FanStory's just fun. Too many yummy things have caffeine to even consider it. I could give up coffee. Not even considering chocolate. Good luck on your endeavor.
Good writing. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for the great review.

I love this. It could have been written about me. Now retired, I've found myself as hooked to my computer and my grandkids or to their games.

Thanks for reviewing. Kind of hard to try and pry them away isn't it? when we do the same thing.

I think we have all worn away that path. I never go past my laptop without having at least an hours peek to see what is happening! You have written a really good story. And a great contest entry. Good luck! Sandra :)

Thanks, Debra. From the response I've been getting think we need a group intervention.

this made me smile, dallas, I enjoyed reading this one as I am drawn into reading fanstory to make more member dollars instead of sleeping like I am supposed to be. I keep wracking my brain on what to write for the acrostic contest, but can't come up with anything. good luck in the contest.

Thanks. Acrostics are tough.

Good grief, I know the feeling, DALLAS! It has gotten so bad, this writing addiction, that I now carry around a pocket-sized spiral notebook everywhere that I go. At the Family Dollar store the other day, I saw something that gave me an idea, whipped out my notebook and pen, jotted the idea down (along with a few lines), then put it back into my pocket. The lady behind me asked if I was a reporter, or secret shopper, and I told her, "No, just an aspiring poet." "Oh..." was all she said.
Excellent little story you got here, and so very true!
Good luck in the contest!:)

I get a lot of my ideas at the gym. Keep a notebook in my glove compartment. On a few occasions have left the gym early, made a be-line for the car, afraid I would forget. God, I need to get a life.
After all of these similar responses. Think we have a little sub-group of addicts, here on fanstory. lol

Heh-heh, yeah, I'd say you're right about that, DALLAS!:D
