Hi, Carolyn.
This is a great poem that says much in few words. A sanctuary that should be a place to heal and be set free. Being tethered is so cruel and takes away all hope. I really like your note at the bottom. The last sentence is strong and so important. Well stated.
Bye
Rosalyne :)

Perfect syllable count per line. I have yet to master the art of a great 5 7 5, you've nailed it. This is a beautiful photo. Freedom is an easy word to say, but its meaning is hard to grasp. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Carolyn,

This is a nice 5-7-5 commentary poem about the eagle. You took a great picture to go with it. Will the eagle be at the World Bird Sanctuary for the rest of its life? I sure hope not.

I think so. They occasionally move them to other sites but captivity is their life. Thanks for your wonderful review.

This is a wonderful 5-7-5 and so timely. Your syllable count is spot on and the message beautifully conveyed. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Bird Sanctuary

tethered Eagle USA

Freedoms price to pay

Taking it literally yes freedom is the price to pay. You mentioned USA so it applies to the people of the the US. Freedom is what a person makes of him or her self whether it is in the US or else where in the world. Everyone wants their freedom. Unfortunately in some cultures women are continued to be tied down like your bald eagle, even in progressive countries out of their jurisdiction.
Blessings,
Sylvia

    Dear Maureen,
These birds, (of which I took many photos) go from the aviary to the tether. That is their life. I love to see them, but feel sorry for them as well.
    Love, Carolyn

I'm not sure us in the 'free and enlightened' West are 'tethered' much - apart from the continual propaganda we receive from the politicians and media.

Our system sure has many flaws, and I hope we learn to address them - especially for the poor and sick.

Thanks for the very interesting read.

Best wishes, Ted

As you so wisely said, our system does have flaws. But it is still the best place on earth to be. :-) I so appreciate your comments, as usual Ted.

These 5-7-5s are hard to nail, but I think you may have done so with this one! It always seems to me that such a beautiful bird as the bald eagle, you'd think they would be flying free! We'll done, Carolyn, blessings, Roy.

Thanks Roy, I enjoy the 5-7-5 form, it challenges me to say a lot in a few words. Glad you liked this one. Eagles are my favorite bird.
Hope you are having a great weekend.

A sanctuary sounds so grand and beautiful but it it? When our feet are bound by chains from flying too high or too far on our own. We must keep practicing with our beaks to tear away those chains and what do we get - broken beaks? Big smiles.
if the zoo keepers decided to to clip the edges of our wings, practice will not enhance our flying might, :)).
Good write about freedom in a sanctuary meant to constrict and imprison us within the bounds of the political system.
Cheerio, hugs ad love, bro Ritchie. :))
