Well, as an American proud of his county's prowess is this event, I congratulate the kiwi's on an outstanding job and an impeccably run race. The cheating complaint against Oracle USA was an unfortunate turn of events. However, it's no good to win if it isn't all above board...

Well done, kiwis!

    Thanks, Dean.

Hope my gloating wasn't premature - still a couple of points away from victory....

You're very welcome, Steve. And, I don't think so, the lead is too insurmountable, I think...

Quite the amaaazing looking yacht/boat/machine! I don't follow the races, but did get to see parts of a race once in St. Maarten. It was fun just to see all the different boats. A great picture, and an exciting poem! Thanks for sharing, kiwisteveh!

Yep, they're lean, mean and a little bit dangerous as has already been proved unfortunately.

This is not a race I follow, but I love your enthusiasm. You would make a great Philadelphian because we are wonderfully fanatic fans :-)
Excellent flow and rhyme. Love the sweet dreams and flying machines line. I hope you and all your countrymen get something to cheer about :-) Brooke

Thanks, Brooke. I understand this is not making a big splash (ha ha) over there, and of course you are on the wrong coast.

I stole 'sweet dreams and flying machines' from james Taylor's song 'Fire and rain' - may be showing my age - hardly anyone recognized it.

    Thank you!

Should land the knockout blow this morning....

And where are the aussies? Apart from on the American boat, of course!

Have to confess I pinched sweet dreams and flying machines from James Taylor.

    Hey Steve

Since Alan Bond went to jail, perhaps the Aussie heart is not in it anymore. I saw him interviewed last night but missed his answer on why we are there ... well except on the American boat. Hey how come NZ is winning and they have an Aussie skipper???? jk

Don't you hate when someone else comes up with the perfect phrase? lol Did you win??? WOW! those boats are super these days. Sbeen a few years since I was sailing on the Maxi's in Sydney Harbour. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

    Hi Steve

I thought you said an Aussie was the skipper on the American boat .... maybe I got it wrong and just a crew member.

Good luck for tomorrow. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxxo

A very patriotic poem Steve, and cleverly and succinctly expressed in these few words. The picture definitely adds to the power of the poem. Simple but very good.

I think it should be called the New Zealand Cup for all the attention the races are getting around here. This is the first news I've heard of it. But then, I'm commonly the last to know. Technical marvels, yes. Yachts, I don't know.

Good luck, mate.

Peace, Lee

Yep, I had heard that no one in America had any idea the event was taking place...

media here are all over it, but I'm not really that excited - it's not like it's rugby or anything!

This is a cute and enthusiastic 'sports' poem - a genre I am not qualified to review properly, except to say that this seems to hit the target in terms of inciting hopeful expectation (like cheerleaders). The musicality of the rhythm and rhyme enhances the impact. Nice assonant near rhyme with dreams and machines.

Good presentation.

Best smiles,
rd

I love watching these yachts fly and ride on one hull. It must be a thrilling experience.

May the best team win, steve.

Nice rhyming couplets in support of your team.

Thank you - anyway I think there are more kiwis on the American boat than there are Americans, so we win either way.
