Animals sense more and see more than we humans, and it's a good idea to take notice of their warning. I had a shadow man under my bed when I was a child and would scream and cry until my parents could convince me nothing was there. I do hate shadows when I'm out walking and never go out alone at night. Great pome, Cecilia. Well done. :)) Sandra xx

Well, maybe the dogs and cats know more about those shadowy figures that we don't know. Anyway, this would be a fun Halloween poem for the kids or one of the campfire scary tales.

Interesting one with the sometimes-rhyming. It's also an imaginative response to barking dogs. Ours tend to do that. One even squats on the couch spying out the window and hoping for some imaginary thing to bark at! Maybe you have some other odd occurrences to invent reasons for!

Thank you for the kind review. My dogs bark at the wind sometimes. I just guess that's what they do. Their barking at night inspired this poem.

I like this, "shadow man" it is what we fear most that we can't see coming, and dogs do have a better sense of this than we do, though I think most know that we do tend to scare ourselves quite a bit, a wonderful read****kahpot

The shadow man here seems to me to be a symbol of the unknown, that unrealized figure that can be friend or foe. We fear what we don't understand, or can't grasp, things beyond our control. I think your image works great here, this characterization of the unknown. estory

I really enjoy this Cecilia. My dog does the same and he's always chasing shadows too, it is so funny! The image is great, compliments the poem very well. Woodie from Toy Story came into my head when I saw, he would be a nice shadow man lol! Its so funny at the end so abruptly you will just end up dead if he finds you, gave me a right giggle! Well done
