Debi. Congrats on winning the "Faith" contest.
Growing up I went to church every Sunday. My wife and I when we were seriously dating would go each Saturday night, but I lost God after he took our first born 45 minutes into her life.
It took years, three children and raising them in the sacraments to begin feeling and believing again. I was so mad at him for taking our Kristen from us. Our marriage didn't suffer and we raised three perfect children.
I enjoyed your post immensely and could feel your feelings as conveyed.
I normally write "cheers", but here I'll say,
Keeping the Faith...

LOL, John, I have been so thrown off and exhausted by these new infusions, and behind on my thanking reviewers that I know last night I was doing them in the middle of the night and kept falling asleep. So rest assure I wasn't calling you toejam. Haha. Most likely trying to say thanks John and oooooh did I blow it. So sorry my friend. It just bothers me when I get so far behind like this. Please forgive my mistakes. I appreciate you more than you could ever know, dear John. So let me rephrase it. Thank you John for being the awesome guy you are and brightening so many of my days. You are a true friend and I do appreciate you. That my friend came from my heart, mr toejam. Hehehehehe!

Hi . A very personal account of losing and finding your faith. Easy to read and I think we all need to have faith in something but most of all to ourself.
Faith to be a good person to our family and friends and try to be caring, empathetic and do right by each other.
For many a religion is their faith and for others something else, and that is acceptance that we are all different and each finds their own peace in many different ways.
I enjoyed reading your post
My friend, all the best
Cheers Chrisxx

Chrissy. Thank you for the wonderful review and comments for my faith story. I truly appreciate every kind word. You are awesome, my dear friend.

I recall very well the strict legalism you described. Fortunately, we progressed from that dogma while I was still young.
Then, I had children, and I became - You don't need these commas.
Not because I was so proud of my post but because - A good place for one of those commas would be before the 'but'.
Well written post. Thank you for it.
Best wishes.

Hi Wayne, I know better than that. LOL, I always called myself the comma queen, lol, and I can't believe that old habits still die hard. Thanks Wayne for your lovely review. I think I should have proof read and not posted so soon. So thanks so much for your great feedback.

smiley face here
Some people put commas where they want to take a breath, regardless of the rules. Or to emphasize expressions, though that really doesn't work very well. (meaningful, face here) winky-winky

But a very inspiring story you have written here and every word of it's true. I'm sure I have 100% Faith. That there is a God. I know it malls the bones as they say. Excuse a crude expression if you WI may not believe in the way everyone else does. But the end result is true, the belief in God. A higher power.
With all in his hand.
Having said all that very well written I see no issues with grammar, spelling punctuation, esthetics, or subject matter fine submission. I wish you the best of luck have a great night.

Lea, our faith is our own personal victory or lack of and I am saddened that mine was lacking for so long. I do believe it is a personal thing for every person and I respect you and others for however they feel comfortable with. I can't handle those who would judge someone else for their beliefs, so I am just always happy when someone tells me that they have faith. I love to celebrate the good fortune of others and I think you are such a lovely woman. I can't tell you how very much your sweet kindness always means to me. I appreciate your awesome review and comments, my sweet friend.

Better late than never, I say we are human. We're supposed to make mistakes. That is why we're here as long as we learn from them. And not making them again, that's the best way to say I'm sorry I think. I appreciate your kind comments Thank you very much!

Barb, I am honored by your request. Of course you can. I admire you so very much that I appreciate that you think my testimony of faith could possibly help someone else. So thank you with all my heart.

Your story is clearly written and easy to relate to. As youngsters we all wondered about the things we learned about Christianity. In some churches, the rules were not as strict as in other churches. In my family, we couldn't play cards or listen to certain popular music on the radio, or wear nail polish or makeup.
I'm glad that in time, through Christ and faith, you discovered that happiness, peace, joy, and love surrounds you. I'm familiar with the phrase "Earth Angels." (smile) Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks so much Lorraine, and yes I do believe you would completely understand about Earth Angels. They are rare, but worth their weight in gold.
Thanks also for the kind words for my story. I guess I always knew that someday I would return to where God intended me to be. And I am so thankful that He gave me the courage to write my testimony of faith. Actually Him and my Angel. Amazing that you too came from that kind of church family. My grandfather was part time pastor so we got a double dose of it, yet he was the wisest and kindest man I knew and yesterday he would have been 128 years old.
Thanks again, my dear friend for your kind comments about my story.

What a coincidence. My grandfather was a minister. My mother prayed for a child. That child was me. I should have written the story about the effects on my life. Thanks for reminding me.
-
I will watch for that story. 😘

This was a brave story to share, from the "fire and brimstone" upbringing that scared you away from your faith, to admitting the ways in which you wandered, to finding your faith again and letting it help you through the issues you face. This is told with honesty and courage, and I hope your faith (and modern science) help you through your illness.

Thank you so very much, Michelle. You are so sweet and I appreciate your kind words so very much. Since then I have found many miracles along the way. Thanks again for the awesome review, my friend.

You're so welcome. I'm glad you've found your miracles. Let's not forget that every rainbow, and every glorious sunrise or sunset, is a miracle in itself. Miracles are all around, as long as we're open to them.

Beautifully written and obviously an honest offering of your experience. I enjoyed the read and trust your health is improving.
I saw one tine thing that may need correcting: Sunday mornings, I wasn't too tired (should it be 'If I wasn't too tired.......). Might just be my reading of it.
Again good contest entry and I see it is in first place at this time. Good luck. ann

Ann, no it might have been wrong, as I am not as much of a prose writer as I am poet, so I thank you so much for your observation. What I wrote was,
"the Sunday mornings I wasn't too tired," and me trying to keep the "that" police from coming my way should have used the word "that" this time. Oh boy I hope I am not confusing you. Lol... I like your idea better than mine anyway, so once again, I do thank you so much, as I admire you so very much as a writer. I will go in and change it right now. God bless and thank you again, my sweet friend.
-
You are a very good prose writer --- you don't write enough of it!! lol ann
-
Lol, I knew I was an obvious poet, Ann, but looks like I am with prose too. You are so cute!

Amen! Without faith the world would be such a scary place! Thank you for sharing that testimony! It's almost like we need that time of doubt to renew our faith and it helps that the church has changed from a rigid legalism to truly grace-filled and Jesus-following.
Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks Helen, and I do appreciate your kind words. It did chase a lot of people away for sometime, but so happy that it is a normal church now where we concentrate on our spiritual growth instead of what we may be chastised for next. What made it harder for us was that my grandfather was part time pastor for the church, so we got it from a personal area in our lives as well. And yet, he was not a cruel man, but a very wise man who I don't ever remember hearing a negative word out of his mouth. So maybe he wasn't happy with the way the church was ran either. I never met anyone who I respected more than my mother and my grandpa. At least until I got here and found a man and woman who fits those shoes.
Thanks for the lovely review and most kind comments my friend.
