This is such a sweet story, and I love the photo you chose.
Penguins are very hard-working, loving individuals. They are unequaled as parents.
I especially like that you showed they are monogamous. As you say, people could learn a lot from them and all animals.
God IS good.
I really like this a lot. 8-)

Thanks again for this wonderful commentary on the Penguin family.
Yes, Penguins could teach humans a lot about faithfulness and values.
Number 4 will be coming soon.

It's nice to see that the parents take turns in looking after the egg, or the unborn child. Now it's papa's turn to go and find food for the family. This is an enjoyable chapter to read.

Another interesting read notesandmore. I was intrigued to see how this would end and so my attention was kept. As I read it I had visions of 'Happy Feet' so I was right there with the Penguins. Humans do have so much to learn. Thank you again for sharing.

Another member wrote something similar to his a while ago. It's a wonderful way to teach children how a different species lives. Peter and Penelope. Are these Phyllis's penguins all grown up? Whoops, I think they were brother and sister. Wonder if these birds practice incest? LOL

Hi Shari,
I commented on Phylis's poem. It and the song is fabulous. I guess we were just thinking Penguins at the same time. This is the 2nd installment. Have more to come. I'm not sure they are cousins but maybe. Glad you liked the piece . Thanks for the great R/R. :-) Carolyn

I love penguins and so do kids. This is a factual yet cute story that they can understand. Good jumping off point for discussion of penguins. Lots of documentaries and movies for the kids to watch as a follow up, too. :)

Hi Carolyn,
This is the cutest little story. It would be so nice if all husband's and wife's would get along as well as the penguins do. I really enjoyed reading this and hope you'll write more about them.

Yes, aren't penguins amazing creatures? To sit faithfully for two weeks out in the icy cold. The things they do for their little ones.
Your story flowed really well and held my attention. Only stumbled a little at the start:
-Penelope Penguin headed out to sea after first telling Peter she would see him in a couple of weeks. - in the previous paragraph the reader already sees her waddling out of sight. I would cut the 'after first telling...', because it's retracting and stops the story from going forward. Maybe start again with 'Peter would guard and keep the egg warm... -You decide. Just a suggestion. Nothing major.
thanks for a lovely story. :)

That was a very cute story and well suited for kids. I loved the way you explained the workings of penguin parents by showing them doing their thing. I think this would translate very well to a children's book, with lots of penguin pictures.
Well done.
