We have a "triple crown" of roses between the front yard and back. Red ones, orange ones and yellow. My wife gingerly snips away deadheads,
Sometimes it's a "painful" endeavor, but someone has to do it.
Great poetry, Carolyn. Best luck in the contest.,. John

Thanks John, I had 39 buds on one of my fragrant long stem bush. Yes, dead heading is a needed choir. Well worth it though. :-) Carolyn

Absolutely . rose is the queen of flowers and the fragrant ones are the best .In india the pink ones are more fragrant than the others.
Lovely haiku. 'g' alliteration adds a regality to the verse. All the best for the contest.

As you correctly point out Carolyn, the Rose is the queen of all flowers, it is perfect , even to the "point"of thorns, portraying the sting in the tale of the cross, Jesus being the Rose of Sharon is significant of course! Well done, a really good haiku, good luck in the contest, blessings, Roy,

Thanks Roy, are you on vacation yet? I cut several of my fragrant roses today for a bouquet. The Lord of creation is so good to us, :-) Carolyn

Yes and suffering "jet lag" I don't think once we're on board ship, I'll be able to review much, say hello to Larry for me! Blessings, Roy and Elaine.

Their petals do look and even feel like velvet. And regal they are but only a short while. At least mine don't hold up for much more than three days. Still new buds keep blooming as old ones fade.

I had 39 buds on one bush this week. Today I have a wonderful bouquet. Roses are min favorite. You are so right, they don't last long but are replaced rapidly by others waiting to take their place, Thank you so much Shari, :-) Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, Wherever you put a rose it will still excel, both in beauty and fragrance. Exactly expressed in this writing.
You caught the sense of the rose so closely.

I also love roses. Sometimes they take a lot of work to keep them healthy
and beautiful but it is worth it when I sit on my front porch and smell
their beautiful fragrances. Well written poem. I liked it very much.

I like the rose is the fair queen of all as if the rose is looking in a mirror. Can you explain grace senses?
Best wishes in the contest.

Hi there, as it is a short poem with low syllable count, words which infer are left out.. would be 'grace our senses' ( sense of sight, sense of smell)Hope that helps and thank you so much for your comments and best wishes. :-) Carolyn

Carolyn;
-truthfully, what a wonderful haiku and I really like the way you have written this because of that definite and wonderful imagery that is exponentially expressive and vividly descriptive.
-The first two lines are grammatically interconnected and definitively full of imagery.
-The third line or satori give your haiku that aha moment and summarizes your poem's concept so well and helps the understanding of the topic.
-One suggestion I have is that they use the word "fair" before Rose as in: "fair Rose queen all". That would make the whole concept of that line fair than just the Queen. Just a suggestion, Carolyn.
-Good luck in the contest and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.
