I love a story with a happy ending. Great job with this one and I completely approve of her method of ending her abuse. I found this unique and well written. Great entry for this contest and I wish you all the best.

Bon appe'tit That is one cheap way to get a divorce and collect the life insurance too.
No fuss no muss, just ready cash and deserved justice too. Best of all no evidence.

Well, Anonymous Author. It would seem that dear Ben is now a has-been, as in had been alive and breathing at one point and time. I can't say I blame the poor woman. Perhaps he should have thought about such things when he put his hands on her in a violent fashion. Everyone has to sleep sometime.

Even with the picture, there was a surprise ending!
Good, subtle, smooth, with a twist of quiet, sweet revenge.

This is clever. I was particularly impressed with 'He rarely allowed me out in public with a shiner'. Just ten words provide a whole wealth of back-story.

A couple of SPAGs (* *=insert; [ ]=delete):

'remorseful with his apology this time.' (Insert a blank line after this to mark the new paragraph).

'[Ben] *He* came up for air and yelled for help'

Nice revenge. Good story comprised of dhort , quick sentences, allowing the reader to move along.

This story was very interesting but was more a tale of revenge than a story of horror, perhaps only to me as I read it from the point of view of the abused wife. It was well written however and maybe a man would see it as a horror story,
