I have started several times writing an essay like this. I can remember where I was at each of these events. Of course, being here in louisiana, we, also, make references to the hurricanes, such as Karina.

Hi, jmdg..(sorry..Forgot your real name) This is a very interesting piece. Well-written and informative. I believe we have a tendency to forget the tragedy's we've witnessed because our minds don't want to remember. If that makes sense. But when we do...we Remember vividly. Good job. Bob

Interesting recollections here. I also remember when John Lennon got shot and Princess Dianna was killed in a car crash. The world just seems to stop and reexamine its self when such traumatic incidents occur. Nick.

Nicky B... there are so many tragedies that could be written about. I just picked a few that were most memorable to me. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment, I appreciate it very much. John

A really intriguing essay. It's also interesting to consider how long these events remain in the public domain. There was a time when just about everybody could tell you what they were doing when Kennedy was shot. But many of those people are now dead, and do those who follow dwell on these older events today? Thank you for giving me much food for thought. Ron

That was a really intense piece of writing. I guess most of your readers go back to their own recollections of these events when they read this essay and re-live their feelings and reactions. I know I did. Although I'm not an American, my world, too, was greatly impacted by these events. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

A fine piece of recollection of historic events which changed the course of your country. I think you could have included Obama's speech in Chicago after he was elected in these events.
Incidentally I was in Florida and watching TV on 9/11 and watched the entire action LIVE. It remains etched permanently in my memory.

Excellent essay on rememberances. I wasn't born when President Kennedy's death took place. I was waiting to be called for interview when 9/11 took place. The interview didn't take place, nor I got the job. It is true we only remember when it involves death.

Thanks for the great read.

Excellent writing about three times in our lives that i am sure each of us will never forget. That old addage "by the grace of God go I," is really appropriate in this day and time. You deserve the six...

This is an excellent essay. I remember where I was on all of those occasions except for the hockey team thing. I'm not that into sports. You are also right about us remembering things better when there is a death involved. The moon landing is the only exception in my case when something bad didn't happen.
