Welcome back, Jenny!
Just wrote on your profile page that I have missed you, and I most certainly have!
I, too, am left-handed - despite the concerted efforts of one Sister DeMontforte who was determined to force me to write as a right-handed individual. My seven-year-old sensibilities would have none of her nonsense! When she would flip my paper on an angle that would accommodate a right-handed writer, I would flip it to accommodate my left-handed sensibilities. This "tug-of-war" ended when my mother intervened; one of the only times I remember her doing so!
So "write-on" Jenny!
I will as well!

Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

You snuck another poem in when I wasn't looking. This brings back so many pleasant memories of the fun and bouncy poems you used to write. Not surprisingly, you've come up with a rhyme scheme all your own and stuck to it beautifully. Your rhymes are well chosen, as they always are, and your poem is fun, funny, and incredibly creative.

Congratulations on your third-place finish. That's not a bad way to welcome yourself back to FanStory.

Incidentally, both my daughter and my sister are lefties.

Hi Lisa A sixer from another leftie loved your description of being left handed
I am too although I write with my right hand because my teachers used to smack my left hand at school (back in 1957/8
and I was made to write right handed Thankfully those days are over
Ha Ha my three children are all lefties so I won in the end

well written and creative
Cheers Chris

I don't believe I've ever read a tribute to a left hand. A hand as an object for the contest is clever.

My sister was a leftie. My mother tried desperately to get her to use her right hand. It didn't work.

The poetic creativity and skill demonstrated in this piece makes it a real contender in the concert. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I really love how you celebrate your left hand in this poem! Your poem really caught my attention. I can feel the joy and freedom that your left hand gives you. Especially in lines like "It sets me free" and "From its fingertips to how it grips." Your light and playful tone made me smile, and I can't wait to read more of your creative work!

Is the hand classed as an object? Hell, why not?

This is a cute poem where the author pays tribute to their left hand and the creativity that it offers. This makes the piece easy to read and follow while at the same time having a pleasant tone and rhythm, which makes it interesting and adds a personal touch to it. The poem effectively expresses the poet's profound admiration for his or her left hand; the hand is portrayed as an essential part of the poet's creative process and life.

The choice of rhyme and meter is practical throughout the poem and serves to make the poem more playful. This gives the left hand a feeling of being a "special gift" and a "miracle of skin"; these words make the poem sound more authentic and heartfelt.

I liked this.

If the judges are harsh they might say a hand is alive and therefore not an object, and omit my poem from the voting, but my hand is the object of my affection!
Thanks for your review, noting the playfulness of the rhyme and metre which is what I was aiming for.

Great flow of patterns of words. Loved the rhyming, kept me reading more and more. Loved the last line, 'So thank you, Lord- I'm never bored".
Makes me want to try to be more ambidextrous. May I find the words to flow with the hand that our Lord as provided for me, for you see I'm right-handed.
Thanks for the read and may we always find a pen with whatever hand we choose to write with, Shadrach.

Thanks for your review Shadrach, I'm pleased my words kept you interested. Being ambidextrous is a useful skill for different situations and is probably good for the brain also to be challenged.

A great poem in tribute to the left handed person who claims that there are only some minor problems with a southpaw's propensity, some great writing here, with some highly amusing and beautifully conversational, well done blessings Roy
