You have written about something so true, especially when we are young and find every shadowy outline, a person hiding in the closet or a ghost in the making. But I thought the dogs had better sense than that. =) Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the kind review. I think sometimes my dogs bark at the wind. Kratos the Pit Bull stills goes over to those bushes and raises his hackles and barks. I guess he knows something I don't.

I think we all knew a Shadow Man, at least when we were children. I was terrified of the dark when I was a kid, and I'm sure I saw him once or twice, wee, back then anyhow. Good presentation of words and creation of imagery.

RJ,
Thank you for the kind review. Shadow man still lives at my house. Ask my dogs they'll tell you.

Yes, I do believe that Shadow Man lurks on my little country road some times... "What are those dogs barking at?!!" LOL! A fun offering for a good smile for the morning -- thanx for sharing both! ;)

Very vivid, and I am sure we all have those shadow men which make us jump at nothing. Dogs are clever and sense when things are not right, so maybe there is someone or something lurking out there at night time! My only suggestion is to try to convey the same but keep your lines of consistent length.
Best wishes.

Wendy,
Thank you for the kind review. I am still a newbie and trying to figure it all out. I work on keeping the lines the same length. Thank yo for the advice.

This is wonderful. It gave me the creeps. Thank you. It grabbed me from the very start. The story makes us feel your thoughts, and I swear I smelled the dark night. Very good work. Good picture too. You can also find free pictures from: Bing, Google, and Pinterest among other sites. Just mention them in authors notes. Karen

Karen,
Thank you for the kind review. Shadow man is still living in my bushes. My pit bull Kratos goes over there some nights and his hackles go up and there is nothing there. Go figure.

I believe there are remnants of people and things that waft about. Some good and peaceful.
And some not so nice. Karen

Yes, my grandfather's house was haunted and they were not so nice spirits

Your barking dogs were doing their job, and wanted to impress you! The picture matches your verse perfectly, and it was fun to read. We probably all have some version of a "shadow man" in our mind that causes us irrational fear.

Thank you for the kind review. Yes, shadow man lives among, I don't know, and I didn't do it. I think they are related.

The shadow man is found day and night, that's frightening. Dogs bark at nothing. Animals have a sixth sense I believe. It's good to have a dog around.
Great work, my friend.
God bless,
Steve

Steve,
It's good to have a dog around, but them barking at nothing is unnerving. My pit bull goes out at night and he stands near the bushes and his hackles raise and he growls. It's shadow man, because I just don't see anything.

YIKES!!! You know, I am not exactly positive that "shadow man" isn't real -- a demon, in fact, offering temptations to get our souls...
What a wonderfully fun poem. And yes, I can weell imagine the dogs barking!

Dawn,
Thank you for the kind review. Here lately my pit bull Kratos has been standing near that bush with hackles up and there is nothing there. YIKES! indeed.

Cecelia,
This poem is near and dear to my heart. Sometimes my dog, Ruby, barks when nothing is there, or barks incessantly even when the "danger" has passed.
A wonderful statement about your animals.
Great home, author.
Best wishes, and good luck!

I had my first encounter as a child, having one going back and forth pass my bedroom door upper stairs: then jump on my chest freezing me. I never felt its intent to kill me then: just its statement of being able to kill me.

Thank you for the review. I can only imagine how terrified you were as a child. My Grandpa's house was haunted and we had our fair share of scary stuff going on.
