I just read through a few nasty rhetoric pieces on American politics, so this was a really nice relief from that. I only wish I could hear you recite it in Austrailianese. Haha!
I think your tribute comes through loud and clear. Your poem written in the vernacular, gives it a real authenticity.
Thanks so much for caring and sharing!

Reviews like this really boost an ego that requires no boosting. Thank you for interpreting it exactly how it was meant.

Julie, your comment has pampered my ego. I'm delighted to know it appealed to you and even more delighted to know you understood my meaning

It reads, and comes across in the way you meant it to be.
As Brits, we here know full well who fought with us and who didn't and we stand, arm in arm; brothers beneath the flags and the guns.
Let's hope it's never truely put to the test again.

As Poms, you will always be the enemy on the sporting paddock, but in real life you'll remain our closest ally. My wife is from Coventry.

Another great verse, Bob, full of character and irreverence but always combining the truth/tragedy with characteristic wit. I love the mention of the "scrawny arses!" That will stay in my memory for a while. But, yes, you need to shout out about the part you Aussies played because you're an amazing nation and we Brits love you! That's why we're always refusing to go home after littering your beautiful beaches! Well done, Bob! Debbie

We are amazing I agree, but we owe most of that amazing to our forefathers who often hailed from Ireland and Mother England. So when there's no cricket matches, we can be mates.

This poem tells a tale of friendship between the people of Australia and those of the United States of America. Well written with every clarity and some humour as icing. Well done, dear Bob.

All I can say is let's pray the friendship stays forever strong. And may we soon win back the Davis Cup.

I don't any combat ever brings peace, I think WW1 proved that subduing and ridiculing the enemy, like the allies did to Germany at Versailles, just created the WW2 conflict, pride was shattered, we have no idea what ructions we may cause by these, look at Israel and surrounding nations, endless conflict, sorry for the lecture, but war can never prevent war, it just delays it. The yanks ought to know, internal non gun control, heh heh, beautifully written Bob, blessings Roy

They call it the Bill of Rights. I will never see gun ownership as a right, to me it too easily becomes an illegal source of solution. One that brings on further conflict.

Yes, that's, it's a funny twisted philosophy, that explains Donald Trump. Yanks don't thin like us.

We all live on the Earth together and must be able to get along. Although there is distance between us, in reality it really not very far. Thank you for sharing this poem with us.

Hi. I enjoyed the way you wrote the poem. So Australia people are called Aussies? How interesting? I hope the results of the election don't take our country down the wrong path. Very well written.

We're also called many other things, especially in sporting events. We tend to be a competitive bunch, who have been known to bend rules a little in trying to win. But we always do it with a smile. The grimace appears when, and if we're caught.

I've bonded on FS with many an Aussie and found them to be the best of friends and their thoughts about wars, fairness, and life to be very appealing. I loved reading your poem and especially when even admits that they might stretch the truth a bit, but their hearts always carry the truth.
Smiles, Carol

The only things we don't like about pommies is their cricket umpires and their weather. Maybe also my in-laws, my wife was born in Coventry.

I suspect as a FStorian we shouldn't sit on the fence, and from he works released most of what I read here leans decidedly to the left. As for the world needing peace we have more conflicts today then we did in '20

We probably also have more debts. I guess also we have more arrogant and aggressive morons in positions of authority. In many ways I'd prefer to go back to the caveman days, as long as I could take my electrical gadgets with me.

I think Australia has always been one of those countries that has struggled to be noticed on the world's stage! Ha ha ha. Maybe it is because it is tucked down under Bob. I love Australia, have visited a few times and have always been welcomed by you Aussies. You made me smile with your personal view of how Aussies behave. A fun post, love Dolly x x x

Dolly, I've already responded to this one. But for you I'll make an exception. I had a twin brother, so I'll tell John, this one was for him. He has been gone for around twenty years.
