Hi Jesse,
This is a well written essay on how perseverance and patience lets you enjoy the life you have until you can get the life you plan to get.
It is a good lesson for all who read it.
Keep writing and stay healthy

What a terrible thing to go through. The knee surgery will also be challenging I guess when that finally happens but as you said, priorities first. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day

Thanks, Oliver, for your supportive words of comfort.
It might be that I won't need the surgery after all. The inflammation in my spine is receding more every day.
Let's hope it continues to go this way.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Jesse. You are a rare one if you can be at peace with your isolation. I am sure that writing helps you to deal with the aloneness.

Thanks, Paul, for your concern. I don't mind being alone. Dealing with the pain is what concerns me most.

This is such a feel-good piece, Jesse. It's so nice to hear that trade-mark optimism that I've been missing. I love your attitude, finding joy in everything, from the lovely view out your window to the joy of being alone with your favorite music or audiobook.
From a technical perspective, you make excellent use of alliteration.
I'm so glad things are looking up, and that you've done a 180-degree turn in terms of optimism and self-confidence. Things will work out for you. I truly believe that.

It's so good to hear from you, my friend!
You have been there for me in the good times and the bad and I am grateful for your kindness and support.
I'm glad you noticed the alliteration in my first line. It is fun to write!
Thanks for your positive support through all these times!
You are the best friend anyone could have!

You get what you give, Jesse, and you've always given me your friendship and support. So, thank you for your very kind words, but know that they apply to you as well.

Thanks, Michele, I needed to hear that.
I'm learning reciprocity as I go through life.

And obviously learning it well.

Thanks.

The blessing of life is that as long as we have life. Pain can be tolerated because along with the pain is the fact that only the living can experience it. The benefit is that you get to enjoy the benefits of life. The natural world and all its wonders. Interactions with others, the opportunity to bear witness to others who might be suffering, that with life comes the possibility of full recovery and a restoration to full health, as long as you do not give in to despair. The biggest lesson is, you can live with pain and a positive outlook lessens the pain significantly. Your testimony is an inspiring message.

Yes, we are alive and no pain or suffering can take away the fact that we are alive to enjoy the wonders of life!
Thank you so much for the six stars!
Your insight into pain shows that you are suffering too. Am I right? I hope not for your sake but if you are then you know how blessed we are to experience life to its fullest!

Yes, I too suffer. Not as severely as you. One of my comforts is that I still have life and the possibility of complete healing at some future point in life.
-
I also have that comfort. Life has a way of healing itself.

Righto.

Hello Jesse,
This is a marvelous story of patience and perseverance in the face of numerous obstacles. It seems our health care system is simply over-burdened.
I wonder if the physical therapy might also work for you neck. My dad had a similar situation, and was given a harness that was suspended from the ceiling.
By using it periodically and consistently, it relieved the pain and ultimately made the surgery unnecessary.
Hope something works for you too. Your approach is positive and may also help.
Best wishes, my friend.

Hello Robert.
I am honored by your exceptional rating and review. I remember my grandfather using a harness to relieve the pain in his neck. It scares me a little since I wouldn't know what I was doing. Anyway, I found out that my surgery won't be approved by the insurance company until I go through the procedure of having a needle put into the back of my neck. I agree our healthcare system leaves a gap in the poor versus to rich when it comes to taking care of all of us here in America.
I just might try physical therapy but the insurance company wants it their way or else.
Thank you for your best wishes and I will always consider you a great friend!

Thanks, Barry. It takes work to be comfortable with myself. Enjoying all the beauty that surrounds me is one of the best ways I know to do just that.

Sounds like you found the key to healthy living.
It switches font here:
I found out that the pain clinic was booked solid until January of next year. No way I want to wait that long with this severe pain.
Good read. Glad you didn't break it again.

Yes, it switches font on that sentence. I don't know who did it but it has already been changed. And, yes, I am glad I didn't break my neck again!
Thanks for your positive feedback.

Thanks for sharing everything, Jesse. It sounds like you have learned a lot about yourself and what is important for your health. You also are very positive about things and I imagine a lot of that comes from the views you see out your window, the workout exercises you do, and having a good doctor you can trust for the right advice.
I am pleased to hear you are making progress, making good decisions, and also finding ways to achieve a sense of peace. Thanks for sharing about it and have a good day and rest of your week.
