Ciao mystery poet, you now have 6 votes.
I loved your poem. Wolves mate for life and the pack is everything.
The ecosystem was crippled when last century, the wolf population was nearly wiped out by hunters.
Wolves play a key role by keeping the deer and elk population in check. The old and weak are removed. Plants, trees and grass have time to replenish.
I think fairy tales like Red Riding Hood should be banned because it depicts the wolf as an evil animal. Children grow up fearing such a noble creature.
You used very poetic words to praise their beauty.

Thank you so much, tempeste. I believe in wildlife
conservation, and wolves are
my spirit animal. Wolves do
have an undeserved bad
reputation. Thank you so
much for the 5 stars. Have a
lovely Sunday. ~

I hope you have a bright Sunday too!
Ciao!

This is a well-written free verse poem. I like your theme. I used to be a park ranger. I like that you want to conserve the wolves and use the word "my". However, if this is a call-to-action poem perhaps "our wolves" would be better. Nature belongs to all of us collectively. A visual of a wolf or wolves with those beautiful eyes would also enhance your poem. Good luck in the contest. This is good stuff!!

This is an excellent poem about the noble wolf. They are a necessary part of the food chain but not appreciated by herdsmen. Still the world would be less wonderful if they no longer exist. I'm not sure "shudder the dawn" makes sense. Do you mean they "survey the dawn?"

Hi Carol, thank you so much
for the 5 star review. What I
meant by, "shudder the dawn," is the wolve's crystal
blue eyes are so piercing,
they, "shake the dawn awake." I know the ranchers
and other livestock farmers
don't want wolves around
because at times the wolves
kill some livestock. But, like
you've written, wolves are
a part of the ecosystem.
I hope you have a splendid
day and evening. Many
blessings to you. ~
