This is soooo accurate: most people DO NOT LISTEN properly. I'm a definite listener as opposed to talker & have honed the skills necessary to be a respectful listener. If only more people could learn this invaluable skill!

I must admit, sometimes I am at fault. I have to consciously remind myself not to interrupt. Happy to say I am getting better at keeping quiet until the speaker has completed his/her thought.

Nicely put- you sum up an issue that we all need to be aware of very well here.

Listening with respect is the hallmark of a listener-learner
Interrupting a speaker is a failure of good listening practice- for me this is the central image of the poem and the one that we should all take away.

I think we are all guilty of not listening, especially when we do not agree with what is being said. I agree it is aggravating when you are speaking and the person to whom you are directing your words is not paying attention. Thanks for the read and the feedback.
