I love cats too and always have one in my life and quick to replace him or her when he/ she goes to Rainbow Heaven. My most recent is Rosie whom I had for thirteen years now. She is part Siamese, part long-hair domestic. Love the humor of your last comment.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I have always had a soft spot for cats.

Magical and filled with love... a very special kind of love. I too would never be able to leave my furbabies behind for whatever reason. They hold on to a part of my heart and give unconditional love in return.
Wonderful!

Thank you. Yep, we have grown old togather and will continue until the end.

This is a funny story, perfect for the writing prompt. We used to have many cats dropped off to us at the farm too, but only one of them made it into my home when I left. Now I have none.

You're most welcome.

It sounds like your cats offer you lots of love and caring but they can also be burden and hold you back as choices are limited when you have so many cats! I don't own a pet because of my lifestyle, love Dolly x

Thank you. Yes, they can be a burden at times but I would not give them up for anything, not even a man. LOL

For years, my husband and I had six cats and a dog. We now have two cats and four guinea pigs. We love our pets like you do and remain in house that requires so much work because of our furry family members. I cand relate to your story.

Thank you. We don't own our pets, they own us. I spend more on them than I do on myself.

I love this story. I can see myself in that position, although I am with only one cat, so your piece rings true for those of us who are owned by cats,

Great story, can really relate to the pets.
We lost our white German Shepherd to a heart attack, then our lifetime cat to old age (20+!), so were without any pets for a while.
A stray cat started coming through our yard every night and would fly away when she saw us. One day while shopping we decided to buy some cat food for it. When we returned home, the same cat came from the back yard meowing and lay down by our vehicle. My wife got out and it rolled onto its back. She petted it, got the cat food, and dumped some out. The cat ate all that and then some more.
Long story short, we now have a cat. She is house-broken, don't know where she came from or how old.
Yeah, that's life.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It does my heart good when someone like you tells me of rescuing a lost animal. Thank you for sharing that.

I know what you mean. I have more animals than that, so the possibility of ever moving is nil. Like you, I wouldn't give one up, no matter what, but you're right - we are prisoners of love.

Thank you. I will tell you something funny. Recently this man asked me what it would take for me to come and live with him. I politely told him I will not give up my cats for any man. He said he could learn to live with the cats, but know what? I'm still not interested. LOL

I hear you. I don't want to live with anyone but my pets. My grandmother always said, "I have a parrot that cusses, a dog that lays around, a cat that stays out all night, and a chimney that smokes. Who needs a man?"

Hello :)
Sounds a pretty cool prison to be incarcerated! All that pet therapy is good for the soul.
I really enjoyed reading your entry for the contest and it's nice to have the author's note too ;)
Good luck in the booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)
