this is excellent writing, dean, in Timothy, we are told to strive for the mark. it doesn't say that we have to achieve the win, just to give our best. I have never won a contest here and I always have to remind myself that it is about the writing, not the prize.....though the prize would be nice once in a while, lol

Thank you very much, Sweetwoodjax, and I am particularly fond of that passage in the Book of Timothy myself. I'm truly glad you enjoyed it, and I sincerely appreciate the kind comments and review.

Really well done fast paced piece which is appropriate for the uplifting theme. Great rhythm and rhyme throughout. I couldn't agree more and I expect that this is a message that is needed now more than ever. Not such an optimistic world these days. Well done, mikey

Thanks, Mikey, I sincerely appreciate your kind comments and review. You're absolutely right, the world isn't such a bright and happy place anymore, but I guess it's all in what we make it, right?
Thanks so much again, my friend. I value your opinion very much.

I think that if more people read this there might be less hate in the world. You did a fantastic job with the flow and everything about this. Great, great job

Thanks a bunch, ExperiencingLiphe, and I'd tend to agree with you. There's so much darkness and sorrow everywhere that even I, with my usually morbid fascination with dark poetry, felt compelled to write something with a positive, uplifting message for a change.
Thanks again for your wonderful rating and review. I truly appreciate it!

so true deano ! so true its how you ran the race. For in life, there is always going to be someone better than you, stronger, wiser, smarter more beautiful, more wealthier. But as long as you are at peace with yourself and you ran that race of life as best you could to your own abilities and limitations well, that's all you can ask of someone or yourself hey?
thanks for sharing this awesome poem of advice.
as always, dip

Hey Deano I had the best, most satisfying day
last Monday morning.
I got to recite my poems to year 5 and year 6
students at a local primary school, An old school friend who I had caught up with on facebook asked if i would like to come up and do it. I thought my poems would be inappropriate at that age But how wrong I was They were absolutely the best audience. They clapped after every poem I had a power point presentation from my nursing home tours where i go around to the oldies in the nursing homes reciting my poems
anyways the kids were rapt and Kerri said its the best behaved they had been all year they even came up and asked me to autograph their poetry books I kid you not Kerri said They haven't stopped talking about it since. I am going to go back I have asked them to all have a go at writing a rhyming poem and when i return i will judge the best 3 and present them with a special prize. You know dean i really love doin this shit it is so satisfying
as always ,dip

The beat gallops along to support the message. Although it has a sing-song quality which tends to discourage a reader from focusing on the words, I felt your enthusiasm through and through. :-)

A very inspiring poem and the rhyming was like a song that could be sang my children to teach them the value of playing not to win but to better themselves.
I continue to enjoy your writing style and will continue to follow you. Thanks my friend.

The author urges us to run our own race. We are the only ones that can do a great job for ourselves. How pleased I am with this piece of art. This verse makes me smile.
"To always love our fellow man,
and do the very best we can,
set goals, for you must have a plan,
to see beyond horizon's span..."

What a wonderful piece of work. It is so uplifting and positive. Sometimes this life really gets us down. This makes me feel good. Thank you for that.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment, baustain64, and the generous rating. It's not too often my poetry makes those who read it feel good, but when it does, I feel really good as well.

Keep your eye on the goal. Don't flinch. Have faith in yourself. Focus. All good advice that winners learn to follow.
Do not reward reason with doubt,
that's not what life should be about,
Love those lines. Doubt causes hesitation, and that always means you lose. :)
