Wow, this really is the greatest gift of Christmas day! The artwork is so realistic that it took my breath away! This is an excellent poem and I found only one thing I might suggest you change. You start many verses in this rather longish poem with And, and then you go on to say some of the most beautiful words I have ever read. Well, rather than And I might suggest using another word that best describes how you felt on a wintry day.
Enough of that I want to say that I really love how the three of you children when into that nursing home and went up to that old lady and spent Christmas day! Even more than that you were able to draw up some memories from her and made her Christmas day special! I am glad I read this poem this early morning it has set my soul free!
Take good care of all your elders it will make your Christmas special!
Have a happy holiday season!

You did a great job with your excellent contest entry. Your lines read well with good rhymes and flow and great imagery. I could see everything your mentioned and feel the heartache of the elderly woman until . . . the three boys intervened. Yes, they brought the true spirit of Christmas to her and received the same themselves.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

What a wonderful story poem. I was deeply moved by the lovingkindness, so essential and traditional a part of the Christmas spirit. Sharing time with those who are otherwise alone. Thank you for sharing.

This is truly beautiful. As a nursing home resident I can vouch for some of my fellow residents who just sit and stare and say nothing day after day. Your words are so true and filled with meaning and---- ---- hope. Everyone here at Oakwood where I live will receive a really nice present on Christmas morning and those remaining in house will partake of a wonderful luncheon. No-one gets left out or forgotten. Your story poem tells of someone whose memory is re-awakened at the sight of the young boys in a truly sweet and unforgettable way. It brought tears to my eyes. Well said Well done cheers Cass

Thanks, Linda. That was me, my three grandsons, and my mother, who passed away in that nursing home some years ago. Just a few things added for dramatic effect.
