oh yes. I like this very much. I appreciate that you rely on words to paint a picture instead of an image. your words paint a vivid picture and are well chosen. a difficult form in my opinion. very successful in this case. mike

what an interesting vehicle for learning a new word - successfully adding a second dimension to this humble senryu!
Very nicely conceived and executed :-)

A disturbing little poem, especially if it is a metaphor for a real person.
I enjoyed reading your chilling poem, which was owerful for such a small amount of words.

Kohled eyes ( masquera ) / cold eyes; black widow ( spider )/ black widow ( poisons husbands ) very clever and unobtrusive. Such wordplay in such a short form often overwhelms the piece, but you have achieved the right balance.

Indeed no image needed, as poem evokes ENOUGH !!!
Super the word 'kohled'...says more than 'cold' !
Black widow ashen,'cinders' weeps in search of new prey to poison...Wow, superb !

Very direct and to the point, strange how the black widow will mate and then around and kill him. Your metaphor is superb. Blessings

Hi Anupam :)
This is very clever.
I really liked what you did here, deserves nothing less than a 6!
Love the similarities of a 'black widow' and black widow spider.
I enjoyed the way you directed me to read between the lines to get lots of different meanings.
Fab!
Kindest regards as always, Debra :)

My friend great Senryu true to form , but sad for me, as her venom is deadly, I like the double take here, the venom of a woman's scorn, aligned with with the spiders bite, the fact that, both can be deadly, great write, blessings, sueellen

The deadly female! I wonder if the male thought his death was worth it. I bet the black widow weeps. Great alliteration with "black widow." I remember a movie titled "Black Widow." She would marry a rich man and kill him, and then artfully go after another one. Although she inherited wealth from each of her victims, it wasn't enough to satisfy her. So she kept on until she was caught at last. judi

Very nice my friend. Another stunning sentry, that does not lose anything with out presentation. I always find that a good sign, though I can't resist it myself. I have one question, why is the black widow weeping? This might make a great free verse, though it is also a very good senyru.

She is weeping because of social customs. She has lost her husband and needs to show off that she is sad, though she is happy for she got rid of him. Thanks for your positive review

Oh! I have to remember you're from India, but none the less this could be a universal truth.
