And the winner of the "Fractured Fairy Tale" contest is . . . .(drumroll) "Ashes to Ashes" by rosehill. I'd give a 7 if I could. This is so skillfully and imaginatively written! Looks like a challenging type of poem to me!

OH my, Janice. I haven't thought about them or the Way Back machine in years. Thanks for the read, the review, and the trip down memory lane.

That was really well done considering how long it was to keep monorhymes in each stanza and the second and fourth line rhyme and tell a meaningful story. Love the new ending to this old tale :)

Interesting twist! The lento seems as though it would be a bit of a challenge so you have my highest regards for success with such along poem. It includes some nice alliteration, and the photograph is a wonderful compliment to your words. Good luck!

Delightful, how you take this tale
and build a legend better.
In the end, Dear Cindy's bend
makes evil sis' cheeks wetter

Thank you Norbanus for taking the time to read and review my words. I had a great deal of fun researching the different endings to this tale. I remembered the dance 'till they drop version, but was surprised to find the Crow ending and several similar tales in other cultures--all exacting revenge, not allowing forgiveness. Thank you for the stars too.

Excellent Lento, rosehill!
Great choice of words for your monorhyme which is an added difficulty at the beginning of the line.
The poem told a great alternative story to the traditional Cinderella, and flowed very well.

Well done!
Regards, Barb

Good Morning Barb, I had fun learning to work with and within the format. As to the story, it, as most fairytales, had several sources of origin and endings. Interesting that the Disney version is the only one that doesn't end in some terrible revenge exacted. I just took a visit to the Dark Side, I guess ;-)--Wendy

LOL, well the visit paid off, Wendy!
I looked at that contest because it did look interesting, but it's a bit above my capabilities at the moment. Best of luck to you, though - :))

Hello there
What an excellent, excellent piece this is - and on many levels - tremendous pace and a lovely gathering of tongue-friendly words.
I have no nits to pick nor suggestions to make - regardless of how you do (or do not do) at the booth, it is a pleasure to read this work.
I wish you well

cheers

Thank you Phil, I love this form and found it almost meditative as I searched for the front rhymes. I think this is going to be a very tough competition, so I thank you for the good wishes and the sixth star.

You certainly are a wizard at words. This poem flows so smoothly and is rich with images, ideas, and lots of action. It brings new depth to the Cinderella story and along with the haunting image, is quite a powerful presentation. Thanks for sharing it. Good luck with your ventures in Virginia.

Why thank you Liila, I love words and the thesaurus is one of my favorite reads. The English language is so full of incongruous words, so many multi-sounding and meaning mouthfuls it is hard to find uses for them all. But I'm trying. Thank you for taking the time to read and review my work.--Wendy
