I am in awe of this post. You did a wonderful job writing and your mother is so wise. I agree with her. You were a late bloomer but have surpassed many,

Sounds like your mom always knew your potential. I got kicked out of preschool because I was too quiet. They told my parents to bring me back the next year but instead they sent to Kindergarten and I did just fine. I'm glad you started writing.

Yes, ExperiencingLiphe, I am glad I started writing, too, and my mother would be glad if she was here. She always knew. Thank you for your generous, six star review.

This is well done, Andre. I am assuming it reflects the truth. It is is a great use of the haibun to establish the basis for your closing haiku - which I really like

Sis, this is a beautiful piece of writing. I've only read haiku from you. More of this prose would be lovely. Bless your mother for urging you on and although she passed her influence exists in you. Lovely story. Warm regards Dorothy

This was an outstanding write Sis Cat, God Bless your Mom for knowing and preparing this sleeping Giant for the world to see. It is sad see never got to see you fly; or maybe she does see you. Your Haiku and hers both are remarkable. Hmmm..
Is 48 the age of writing lol, I just started now at 48. ~Kerry~

Sis Cat: I like your boldness with your poetry styles. Your story is awesome.
I gave my daughters journals for Christmas and matching tote bags. This weekend,
Annie was writing in her journal!

Sometimes, when life gets tough, we express ourselves. Beauty flies out with
our pen. We can share with compassion and love.

So glad you are blooming! I like your Mom's encouragement. flylikeaneagle

Sis Cat: notice that next month is a light bulb and piece of puzzle symbols for autism awareness. The color is blue for the youth. It's time to get together and fly! These butterflies are beautiful! Both Monica and Annie are helping youth with autism in Colorado. Life is precious. nancy

Oh My God! Your poem reminds me so much of the story involving me and my paternal grandmother. I have told it often enough that it does not require retelling. I had no idea growing up that I would follow in her footsteps and go even further. I felt that if she could type a book, mimeograph it and distribute it by hand, then surely I could write a book, a small book to start, and see about getting it published. I recently had my fourth book of poetry published. Unfortunately, like in your case, my inspiration was not around to witness any of this and that makes me very sad indeed. You are in your own way an ongoing inspiration to me. It appears that our origin stories are not that different.

This is so beautiful and your Mother was so right. It often takes living a life first to write. "scribbling poems on paper scraps which clutter the house like confetti at a convention." That seems right and to bring it into a Haiku is just what your Mother would want.

I love the last quote and your Haiku poem, nature sometimes has a strange way of behaving which is interpreted by us humans in a way that nature never intended, love Dolly x

As I grew, I groaned whenever Mom told me this story: Mom, I'm not a sleeping giant. I'm now a man of below average height. I want to be normal and not a poet like you, scribbling poems on paper scraps which clutter the house like confetti at a convention.' So well written. Its our mothers who know first. My other is not a poet at all but when I turned six I started writing poems. However I was selectively mute outside my parents for a couple of years. My mother made no fuss abut it, or the fact I would or could only eat smooth yogurts, mousses, and soft hot dogs or peanut butter sandwiches on white with crusts off. I was terrified of swallowing. Again she made no fuss, it passed. You Mother, like mine sounds amazing. And without mine I would have never have known I was special or different. Same for you. God made us different for a reason and we must be grateful for that and you sure are repaying him now your gift is tremendous. Kindest regards Meia x
