In such situations, we cannot plead innocence. The downward spiral begins with s desire to make ourselves vulnerable to others and to the world. Is that not what life is all about? But to be vulnerable and open is to risk self-destruction and oblivion. We can be onlookers in life but never innocent. Detachment might be our buoy in the storm.

Thanks, Ekim777, I really appreciate the exceptional rating and review. I thought it would be doing much better in the contest than it is now, but there's still time.
Thanks again for you encouraging review.

This is a very well written entry for the Ghosts contest. A gaunt corpse being carried to his grave and purgatory because of an addiction to drugs. Very sad and scary if you happen to be addicted. Well done. Good luck. Nancy

Well, I am not addicted nor have I ever been. however, I have known some throughout my lifetime that have been, and it literally destroys their lives. I think it would be scary for anyone who has a loved one, such as a son or daughter, or spouse, that is addicted as well. It affects far more than just the one with the addiction. Or haven't you heard.
Thanks for the review.

uyyes, I am well aware of that!

I got 'cha, Nancy. I lost a dear uncle to heroin addiction. He was always so good to me. I hate...no, I loathe!... drugs, and everything they represent. So, this topic was very near and dear to my heart, if you will.

You manage to express a very powerful message in 8 short lines. You have easily met the criteria for the ghost poem contest.
Your words choices are authentic, while adhering to a structured rhyme scheme of AABB. Often in poems, words can feel forced just to fit, but not here.
Very well done; good luck in the contest :)

Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging review, Victoria. I thought it would be doing much better in the voting booth than it is now, but you can never judge these things on how people will receive them.
I do appreciate your review, at least it is some encouragement.

A short and poignant rhyming work dedicated to the memory of that great comedian who took life so seriously. It doesn't make sense!... but who I am to ask?

such a tragedy. Everyone else believed in him except himself. Great poem about his ghosts and what he would say. Good luck.

Thanks, Teresa, and based on the way it is performing in the voting booths, I will need all of the luck that I can get...and then some! LOL...

This poem is written on a very serious tone. It has thoughts on an abusive life style that ends in a tragic event. The poem flows well and is written with high emotions... John

I am incredibly heartbroken by the passing of Robin Williams! It's like someone close to me has died. So very sad.
That image you used goes perfectly with the last line and tone of your poem.
It's a great entry for the short poem-ghost writing prompt. I wish you much luck

Thanks so much, costellsgirl, and I am heartbroken as well. I could not believe it when I heard the news.
As for the contest, I'm not doing all that well, but there is still time. Miracles can happen!

This is a great little poem. Haunting and effective. Is it dedicated to Robin Williams because of his struggle with addiction? His suicide by strangulation is a tragedy, and a great loss to us all.

Yes, Rose. He struggled so hard battling his ghosts of addiction, and he even dabbled in heroin use at one time. So sad to lose such a wonderfully talented, comedic mind like Robin. I for one will dearly miss him.
Thanks so much for your kind review.

What a shocker to hear that he is gone and by his own will, It must be a torment to live day in and day out so miserable, and we thought fame can cure any unhappiness. God rest him.
