This is a perfect lullaby to send kids off to sleep with fascinating dreams, Steve.
The mono rhyme works, as do the repeat sections in each verse to remind the kids.
Top alliteration throughout for extra fun.
Maybe youngsters wouldn't understand 'cavort' or 'glades', but I believe in throwing the odd difficult word into kids' poetry to help them learn by asking questions.
Excellent!
Best wishes, Ted

Thanks, Ted.
Yes, I don't believe in 'talking down' to kids - the general meaning will be clear and this is exactly how they learn.

A really good children's poem with exciting imagery, perfect meter when read out loud and the rhyme was fun too. I know children would enjoy this as a bedtime story. Good Job Steve. :-) Nancy

No, no spoiling there! :)
Really a nice poem, Steve, with a nice rhythm to it, satisfying rhymes, and a great use of repetition. How lucky she is to have someone able to write just for her.
I enjoyed this!

Steve,
This is an adorable children's poem/lullaby. You did a great job with it.
Imaginative, upbeat and fun! What child wouldn't delight in hearing this. I did! Pixies, fairies, goblins, elves and the sandman all cavorting and having a good time. What could be better than that?! Fave line ... "no doubt they'll be making more noise than they should" ... haha!:)
I think that children would especially delight in having their name read in the final stanza. Wish I had a sixer left for you. Great job!

Very well done from beginning to end. A joy to read. I could imagine those pixies frolicking in the sea. Good imaging with all the wee folk. Know where we can get some of that sandman dust? I've got four grandchildren, ha ha.

Nope, don't know where he digs that stuff up from. When our kids were small we used to put them in the car and take them for a looooong ride!

What a great poem for any little girl to dream with. Love the picture! LOL! My daughter had something similar. Boys are fun for dads and grandpas, but there's nothing like your own personal lap fairy to melt a guy's heart. :)

A beautiful poem for children, with perfect rhyme and meter and a perfect "lilt"; the kind of poem children love to read, memorize, and repeat. I enjoyed reading it, too!

Yes, the rhythm is even more important than usual in poems for children, don't you think?

Rhyme is very important in children's poems. Even if the poem/story is nonsense, they love the rhyme and will usually end up loving and repeating it.
