you are most correct with your notes
i noticed in college the most creative writers i knew
had been abused as i was
i took up psychology
theology
and other courses
but the need to write was what out weighted it all
though i know i fail alot
the writing must be put out on paper
or i die inside from what i believe myself to be
the writing so deeply shared this
that i felt inspired to share of myself as well great work

yes, angel, even though I am a math teacher by design, it is in the writings that I found myself and have been most able to assist others. This piece was one of those that began nagging at me and would not let me go until I stopped and put it on paper. Thanks for sharing. Love, Jan

The little ones would be afraid having
a Father or brother abusing
their person and sexual abuse.
"
Little One, gaze into my eyes
My respect for you can?t be disguised
Your courage and strength is growing strong
You?ll one day sing your victory song
By realizing you were never to blame
For being the spawn in a sick man?s game
By tackling the issues tying you in knots
For accepting help in connecting the dots
You?re finding out what?s really true
You?re discovering who?s really YOU!
Little One, don?t be afraid
Because of choices others made
Come on over, talk to me
I may be able to set you free
From demons invading your sleep
And barriers which make you creep
Those times you yearn to play and run
Participate in all the childhood fun
Stolen from you years ago
By a pedophile so vile and low.
"This can happen, please look after your children."
Some children havea rough time growing up . A lot are abused sexually and belted black and blue.
This story is a typical situation where upon evil starts the day.
Excellent poem/story

The most current research now says the numbers are not the 1 in 6 once believed to be true (reported, that is) but are as high as 3 out of 5 -- 60% -- and that's just for the sexually abused. This particular piece was one of those that began nagging at me and would not let me go until I stopped and put it on paper. Thanks for understanding. Love, Jan

Abuse, child molestation... There are innumerable things in one's life that can be this traumatic. All require not only an understanding that many things can occur in one's life, but also a reconciliation with one's self. Indeed, that inner child. That perhaps is the most difficult.
I felt the poem was touching and well written.

For being the spawn (don't you mean, pawn?) in a sick man?s game
You lost the meter in a few spots, but it worked.
Interesting poem, but I wonder if this is really something one might read to a molested child.

Yes, to one who is ready to work through the healing process. In fact, I read it to the one for whom it was written shortly after I finished it this morning as she happened to call me just as I initialed it at the Chick Fil-A where I happened to write it after eating breakfast. This is more geared to an older child or an adult who is searching for their inner child and is seeking help. I'll go back and check the spawn/pawn thing. Thanks for the insight. jan

Such a beautiful poem of healing. It is hard to get to that point but then there is no other way to move one. I thank you for this heart felt poem and the dedication. I pray that all may find peace and healing. Thanks, Jeanette

Very well written. It would be a good inspiration to all the who have had to endure the pain of abuse. As a therapist myself, I often try to help my clients to find their inner voice.

WOW! I am speechless. I simply loved this poem... although I never lost my childhood voice (as you put it), I rather regressed towards it when my sister's (much older) boyfriend abused me at the age of 13... and gee wizz, you'd think ppl'd tell him he's to blame (he was 20 after all), but being the 13-year old vixen and temptress that I was, it was put squarely on my shoulders when I finally managed to find my voice and speak out.
Anyway, I know you wrote this for someone else, but it still spoke to me on a very personal level. After reading your author's notes, I couldn't help but wonder, if abuse(whatever form it takes) doesn't lead a lot of ppl to writing. It's a good, non-violent way, to get rid of those emotions.
Great poem. Thank you so much for sharing it.

While I wrote it for one, my hope was that it would touch many -- not just those who've been abused like we have but also those who know people who've been abused so they can have a better understanding of what it's like. Thank you for sharing your story and your insights. This piece was one of those that began nagging at me and would not let me go until I stopped and put it on paper. Love, Jan

This is an absolutely beautifully
worded poem, albeit a sad & painful topic.
Cleverly thoughtout and presented...
the words speaking volumes.
Thank you for sharing,

Wow this poem truly opens up your heart. I felt extremely emotional whilst reading this. Your words create a calm and reflect on the guilt and shame and an whole mixture of emotion that a victim of abuse would feel. Great visual presentation and rhymes and flows very well. I have a friend who was abused as a child by her uncle, I'm going to share this poem with her because I think she will find it helpful, thanks once again, Jacqui x

Rdfrdmom2,
An incredibily powerful poem that translates the content into a work of art that just flows like the wind. Wonderful rhythm and rhyme. I see no typos. Thank you for allowing me to have the great privilege to read this poem.
