Cute poem to get us thinking about the health sacrifices we must make for 2023. The message is clearly stated. The rhyme scheme fits the limerick requirement well. I feel because the writing is so curly it would be better to increase it one size to ensure each word may be read clearly.
Good luck in the contest.

As always Sandra, your comments are always taken seriously by me. Because for some odd reason, you are always right. LOL!!! Thanks so much my sweet friend for the kind comments too. I might even change the font, since it maybe should be more plain for a limerick. And as always, I so appreciate you. Thank you. I know that the holidays are hard on you and I am praying for you, cause girl, Love you lots!!!

Making the text larger fixed the issue. You are welcome.
Comment from Aiona
I love this limerick! It follows the a-a-b-b-a rhyming scheme and 3-3-2-2-3 beats per line structure. I also like that it's humorous and relatable. I found one typo. I think you meant "New Year's" instead of "New Years" as it's short for "New Year's Day." Right?

Aiona, you are a Christmas Angel. Thank you for the feedback, which I always love. Y'know there is always something we miss, so I appreciated you telling me about the apostrophe, or as some call it, flying comma. lol
Thank you also for the lovely comments and for the gift of six stars. How did you know that is what I wanted for Christmas? JK but I do appreciate them very much. Aiona, I hope that you and yours have the loveliest
Christmas and an exciting New Year's!! Good exciting, I mean. : )

Hi, Debi. I saw you placed third in the limerick contest, and I dunno why I was certain that second and third place winners would receive 25% of the prize pool. I guess I didn't read the rules well enough. Sad for a writer, huh? Anyway, I wish Tom gave us a way to transfer Fanstory dollars!
Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
Haha, Debi. I believe many will identify with this fun, but
true limerick. You did an awesome job with its style. Your
words followed the correct lines and rhymes. I liked how you
chose New Years. What a great way to start with these resolutions.
I'm proud of you for quitting smoking. I'm sure it was a difficult
start, but look where you are today--smoke free. Your picture
was perfect, though your words painted a picture for readers,
too. I liked the decorative font and the color scheme. Both set
off your words in their own way. Those words were well-chosen
with rhymes which were unique.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Hey Jan, thank you so much for your sweet, kind and fun words for my limerick. I wish they were all this easy and fun to write. You are so sweet to give your gracious six stats. Thank you so very much! Merry Christmas my very dear friend and whether there are any resolutions set up, I wish you a not so boring as the one I had in 2020. Yes, of all the. Years to do it, I picked the year of the pandemic. And next week, I will be 3 yrs smoke free! Almost ashamed to admit that it took me that long to get it right, but I did. Thanks again sweet friend!

This is a very cute limerick! Yes, people like to give up things for New Year's, so they might as well give up something that will benefit them in the long run, as you did. Enjoyed the picture also. Merry Christmas!

LOL, a "G" rated limerick for the New Year. And you are most likely right about his boring life ahead. Great Cartoon for the poem. Good luck in the contest! Who knew you could write limericks? But then why not? Excellent. Terry.

What an excellent limerick for the contest. You have a fantastic mind, my friend.
I horde my sixes like a Hill Giant sitting on a pile
of stolen gems, but the this whimsical truth piece earned me all day long.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. I have been lying low fr the holiday season but I will jump back in after the New Year!

Laughing because every year I swear I'm going to start eating healthier. I write down my resolutions as I pop leftover Christmas cookies into my open mouth. Hope springs eternal. Now I make resolutions with art and writing. Those are easier to keep. This was an exceptional poem. Wish I still had a six to bestow on it. Have a wonderful Christmas, Debi. Gretchen
