A free verse poem about a war, or wars America engages in. Being a war time baby under British protection, having lost an aunt to war, I do not claim to be a war lover. You, like an artist with the stroke of a pen itch the frightening images, images real, the Vietnam warriors had to be shine our the WW2 seniors. No they couldn't The war machinery , like the gun lobby are power enough. How many of our children will they sacrifice?

Hello Michael, My late husband's name was Michael. The politicians
    declare war, and the youth
    fight in these wars. A
    horrible shame that their
lives are sacrificed. I appreciate the British soldiers great sacrifice too.
    Many blessings to you,
and thank you so much for
    the 6 stars.

This is a wonderful tribute you've written about our service men and women. Its hard to believe that when Vietnam vets returned from war they were ostracized and spit on. Thank you for this amazing poem. Best of luck the contest. :)

    Hello Boogienights, thank
you for taking the time to
    read and review my poem.
Human history is full of its
wars that the youth are sent
to fight. It so hurts my heart
    the way many of our
    Vietnam veterans were
    so poorly treated by their
    own countrymen. Thank you
    for the 5 stars. Many
    blessings to you.

This is a fine free verse poem, on a powerful subject that arises pity. I find the contest a shame, as in many countries November 11th is the memorial day for all wars. I would have liked to see a broader platform (but that's not your fault. Kate xx

    Hello Kate, I appreciate the
    great sacrifices of the British
    soldiers and their families.
The British are always in my
    heart for their contributions.
    I remember
    Queen Elizabeth and other
    royal family members war
    contributions too. You're
    correct that Veteran's Day/
    Remembrance Day should
    be observed the world over
on the same day as you
stated. I didn't think of it
    until you mentioned it.
    Thank you so much,
Kate, for the 5 stars. I really
    appreciate it. xx

"Welcome Home" is excellently written. There is never enough gratitude shown to our Veterans who have chosen or have been enlisted to serve their Country.
So many have literally given their lives and others have survived as you have mentioned, never to be the same. I am reflecting upon all the sacrifices made by them as well as their loved ones. May we as humans, especially all of us who are benefiting from such an unselfish dedication to humanity. May we who benefit always seek ways to show appreciate and give back in order to make a difference. Your choice of art is very graphic and appropriate. Font could be a little larger, plus made bold may help to felicitate easier reading.

    Thank you so much,
Cecilia. The politicians declare war and the ones
    still in the-bloom of youth
are sent to fight it at such a
    great sacrifice. It's such a
    tragic shame. Thank you
for the 5 stars, I really
    appreciate it. Many blessings
    to you.

Hey Regina,
This is a heartfelt poem that thanks all the veterans of all the wars and is a sort of apology to those who were treated badly on their return. Especially those who came back home after the Vietnam War. It tells of their bravery and service and the horrors of the aftermath, like PTSD. This breaks up families sometimes. It is so sad that so many vets are homeless.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

    Thank you, Joan, for taking
the time to read my poem.
    We can never pay our
    soldiers back enough, but
    many Americans give the
    various U.S. military charities
    a lot of monetary donations
    and-volunteering of their
    time. It is encouraging.
    Thank God the burn pits
    legislation was finally passed
to give our Middle East war
    veterans much needed
    medical care. So many of
    our soldiers have passed
    away from breathing in
    the poisonous burn pits.
    It's a terrible shame. Thank
you for the 5 stars, and
    many blessings to you.

You're welcome, Regina. It is sad they had to wait so long to get help; Maybe some of them would have lived if they were cared for right away.

I thought your entire poem was perfect. But the first stanza stood out to me. I liked how it was personal and you shared a moment in your life. But loved your poem and the respect it shows our veterans. Well done!

to read and review my poem
    on this extremely important
    subject of our soldiers
    great sacrifices. War is such
    a destroyer of young life.
Thank you for the 5 stars.
    Many blessings to you

This free verse, Welcome Home, is a sad and celebratory poem which reminds the readers of what sacrifice looks like. Some gave all on the front lines, while other returned with conflict engraved on their souls like an epitaph. Brotherhood knows no greater form than that experienced by warriors who fight for a purpose and each other. I owe you a six, Regina.
